Weekly Writing Challenges Archive
Welcome to YeahWrite’s archives. Below, you’ll find all of our posts. We kick off each writing week on Friday (what?) with a new prompt for you. For 500 weeks YeahWrite hosted “weekly grids” which enabled writers to link their self-hosted responses, and to read and vote on each others’ work, as well as commenting. Check out our creative nonfiction, fiction|poetry, and microprose archives for a closer look at our nearly ten years of weekly writing competitions. While we no longer host weekly competition grids, we’re still delivering the prompts you love as well as our Super Challenge and classes. We also feature monthly instructional or challenge posts, which you’ll find collected here as well as in our writing help archive!

YeahWrite #356 Weekly Writing Challenge: Popular Vote Winners and Editors’ Picks
Whatever the Reason Stacie's got her fitbit. I've got Pokemon GO. Don't judge; I bet I'll walk more steps than her today, since the next wave of Pokemon are being released. My dog has never gotten so much exercise in her life. It doesn't matter, in the end, what gets...
YeahWrite #356 Weekly Writing Challenge is Open for Popular Voting
Color Me Fit I bought a new fitbit this week because the band on my old one broke and is not fixable since the model I had was old, from the pre-exchangeable-band days. My new one came with two bands and one is purple, so obviously I love it as much as I love the idea...
Congratulations to the Round 1 winners at YeahWrite Super Challenge #7
Hey, Super Challenge writers! I guess I could just say super writers - this round had some great personal essays. Your feedback should be in hand. One thing we heard back on a recent survey was that it's confusing to get negative feedback and then advance. Here's the...
YeahWrite #356 Weekly Writing Challenge is Open for Microprose
Once upon a time... I'll admit it: my favorite stories are stories with magic in them. Witches, wizards, magic rings, super powers, telepathy, extra-sensory perception, all of that stuff, be it medieval, modern, futuristic, or none of the above. For me, fantasy...
Welcome to YeahWrite’s Weekly Writing Challenge #356
Perseverance My 11 year old has embarked on several months of rigorous training leading up to a test to receive his black belt. He's nervous, and rightfully so, as the training, qualification, and testing are all pretty intense. As I write, he's 36 hours...

YeahWrite #355 Weekly Writing Challenge: Popular Vote Winners
Schedules are hard I'm sitting here waiting for a Hot Pocket (tm) to cool down from "molten with a lump of still-frozen filling at the center" to "yeah you could eat that" and I suspect I'm going to miss the edibility window and end up chewing my way through congealed...
Fun With Words – Complete
If you've been hanging around YeahWrite for a while, you've probably picked up on the fact that I dig poetry. I started writing poems in elementary school after devouring my first Shel Silverstein book. I loved the playfulness and creativity I discovered in every line...
Not a Sonnet Pun
I know it's February but... Blah blah Valentine's Day blah love blah sweetest poetry form blah. I'm already feeling nauseated. Hey, gang, what do you say we give the traditional sonnets a break this year, and try something else for February? As a nod to...
