Six weeks of yeah write prizes began last week with yeah write #45. Congrats to Meg of Pressure Cooker who won an Elegant Themes WordPress theme from yeah write. I know moving from Blogger to WordPress can be intimidating, but taking the first step is always, well, the first step, and I’m glad to start Meg on her way.

I will draw five more random winners over the next five weeks for the winners’ choice of template at Elegant Themes. It’s very simple to enter the drawing, you don’t even have to link up a blog post with yeah write. Just leave me a comment on any post once yeah write opens for the week (Tuesday through Thursday) saying you want in and you’re in. And, yeah, if you left a comment on yeah write #45, you gotta leave another one on yeah write #46. That’ll help me keep track each week of who’s interested and still paying attention.

There will be a few temporary changes to yeah write during the weeks of yeah write #46 to yeah write #50 with things going back to normal beginning with yeah write #51.

Unlimited spots!

Let’s open up the grid to anyone who wants to be part of the contest fun to join in as long as they are within the yeah write guidelines. If you’re linking up for the first time, please read the whole thing so you’ll know what to expect. Oh, wait, read this one, too. Don’t hate me because I’m informative.

5 votes!

Okay, okay, I heard you guys. Three votes are never enough. So for the next five weeks, you get five votes.

Blog design prizes!

At the end of yeah write #50, yeah write is giving away four prizes for those of you who would love a new blog design element or—for those of you who are perfectly happy with your design—a comprehensive list of action steps toward improving your blogging space (content, writing, SEO).

  • a new theme installed and mildly tweaked by Erica
  • a new header designed and installed by Q
  • an 8×10 print or digital photograph with custom elements by Flood. The photo attached to this post is one she made for me at free fringes. The typewriter is for me the writer, the map for me the traveler, the kids’ toys because my kids just can’t let me work interrupted, the liquor bottle and highball glass is for none of your business
  • a complete review of your current blog with recommendations on how to improve your content, writing, search engine visibility and design by my Blogging Bash partner Alexis. If you accept her recommendations, as a team, we’ll help you implement them. Are your text and header fonts all crazy and unreadable even though you loves some crazy and unreadable fonts? If you take Alexis’s suggestion for more readable fonts, for example, we help you find ones more suitable and install them. Not just action items—action action

Points for prizes!

Those of you who first heard of yeah write when it was lovelinks during the contest for an ad in the sidebar of The Bloggess for a month will remember that contest ran on a cumulative point system, and I’m bringing back points for this one, just differently. They will carry over from week to week until it’s over, the bloggers with the four highest point totals choosing their prizes from among the four offered.

Top row on the grid: 5 x the number of rows ÷ 5=your points

Let’s say we get our recently usual 50 blogs. That’s 10 rows on the grid, 5 points per row. If you land in the top row, that’s 50 points. Divided by five: 10 points. If you guys bring in new people and we end with 75 blogs on the grid, that’s 15 rows x 5 points and 75 points. Divided by five: 15 points. Wow, for some reason, only 30 blogs this week? That’s six rows x 5 points and 30 points for being in the top row. Divided by 5: 6 points. The more who link up, the higher the potential points for you.

2nd row: 4 x the number of rows ÷ 5=your points

Our usual 50 blogs is ten rows. Ten rows x 4 points per row is 40 points for everyone on the second row. Divided by 5, that’s 8 points. If we get 15 rows from 75 bloggers, that’s 60 points for everyone on the second row. Divided by five, that’s 12 points. Dang, only 30 bloggers? Six rows x 4 points is 24 points for everyone in this row. Divided by five: 4.8 points

3rd row: 3 x the number of rows ÷ 5=your points

You’ve got the idea by now, but let me keep going. I love typing on my new laptop’s back lit keyboard. 50 blogs, 10 rows x 3 points is 30 points for this row. Divided by 5, that’s 6 points. Fifteen rows from 75 bloggers? That’s 45 points. Divided by 5: 9 points. Thirty bloggers, six rows? That’s 18 points for this row. Divided by five: 3.6 points.

4th row: 2 x the number of rows ÷ 5=your points

I caught a cold this week, and my house is a little messy. I’m still gonna give you 2 points per row if you’re on the fourth row. Don’t forget to divide by five.

5th row: 1 x the number of rows ÷ 5=your points

When we have 50 blogs on the grid, the fifth row ends the top half of the blogging showcase/writing competition popular vote. That’s not bad, right? 1 point per row, divided by 5,  for you if you land here during a prize week.

6th through final row: no points for you

But don’t give up hope. This is just for the popular vote. If you’ve found yourself below the fifth row, you can still earn points from editor’s choice and lurkers’ favorites. Keep reading!

Editor’s choice, Flood’s lurker’s favorite, Q’s lurker’s favorite: 15 to 20 points

We may love your entry or we may LOVE your entry. Depending on how much we love it, and if your crazy fonts don’t drive us crazy, you’ll get anywhere from 75 to 100 points to carry over into the next week. So take heart, sixth through final row-ers, even if you manage to land kinda far down in the popular vote, winning one of the judges’ favorites could give you even more points than someone on the first row, and that is how the whole world should work if it doesn’t already.

Introducing the yeah write superfecta plus one

This will be our standing offer into perpetuity: if you win the popular vote, editor’s choice, Flood’s lurker favorite, Q’s lurker’s favorite and comment karma in five consecutive weeks of linking up with yeah write for five consecutive weeks, you’ll win all four of the offered prizes: the new theme install, the new header, the custom icon photograph and the comprehensive blog review with action steps. You gotta link up five weeks in a row and, in those five weeks, win one each of the judges’ decisions. Standing offer, standing contest. Get after it, writers who blog and bloggers who write who would love a complete design makeover. Get after it.

Yeah write #46 opens Tuesday with unlimited spots on the grid, five votes instead of three and a random drawing for a new theme. And points. Don’t forget the points.
