For a brief history of how the yeah write community got involved with BlogHer’s NaBloPoMo, click here to read the 2012 introduction to the November challenge.
So here we are again, one year later, ready for 30 straight days of blogging both in our personal spaces and here at yeah write. To participate, you’ll need to add your blog to the November NaBloPoMo blogroll over at BlogHer. Go do that now then come back, thanks!
The badge, the grid, the perk packages
The badge: It wouldn’t be a yeah write event without the badge, the grid and the perk packages. The 2013 badge is over in the sidebar and, for the Inlinkz collection to accept your blog URL, it will need to be installed somewhere on your blog. Doesn’t have to be in every November post. Your own sidebar should do. Maybe on a separate page singing the praises of yeah write. You know, when you write one.
The grid: The grid is open below. Do not add separate posts each day. Add your general blog address (your homepage), making sure you point your readers to your NaBloPoMo 2013 posts using tags or categories.
The perk packages: Thanks to everyone who signed up to offer a perk for completing 30 straight days of blogging. At the end of each week, Fridays at midnight, we will draw two random winners, one for a yeah write book bundle and one for a perk offered by a NaBloPoMo participant. Click here for the list of perks. and let us know if you have something you’d like to donate!
Eligibility for perk packages
[unordered_list style=”tick”]
- You must be a yeah write subscriber by the time of that week’s drawing, Fridays at noon (U.S. eastern time)
- You must have written and published an entry every day for that week from Friday at 12:01 a.m. (your local time) to Thursday at 11:59 p.m. (your local time)
- “Every day” means “every individual day,” not seven posts crammed into two days or whatnot
- You must be willing to provide your perk donor a mailing address for shipping. International restrictions may apply (especially if your donor isn’t willing to pay 45.00 USD to ship a box of cookies, but you never know)

The writing guidelines for 2013 NaBloPoMo at yeah write
[unordered_list style=”green-dot”]
- Beginning November 1, write a blog post every day for the month of November
- It doesn’t have to be a long post. A quote or photo will count
- There are no prompts, no word limits. Team Nano Poblano over at Rarasaur will be following suggested prompts and BlogHer may also provide a few if you need them
- Every day includes weekends, Hanukkah, American Thanksgiving and any other bank holidays or religious holidays you may observe
- “Day” means between midnight and 11:59 p.m. your local time
- No commercial blogs. Those and any other posts designed to sell stuff to our readers will be removed
- Miss a day of writing? Don’t beat yourself up over it. The grid will still be here for you to read, write and comment. Write a new post when you can. The perk package random drawing clock resets each Friday at midnight U.S. eastern time
[/unordered_list]
The 2013 NaBloPoMo at yeah write muy grande perk package for those who survive the entire 30 days without missing a day
On December 1, we will host a random drawing for all yeah write subscribers who blogged each and every day for the 30 days in November. One random subscriber will receive:
[unordered_list style=”star”]
- A basket of your favorite non-perishable goodies from Trader Joe’s donated by yeah write editor Stacie (photos of baskets in promotional graphic are representative, not the actual baskets)
- The inspirational The Art of Possibility by Rosamund Stone Zander donated by yeah write editor Erica
- The yeah write editor classic book bundle of Stephen King’s On Writing and Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird
- The yeah write editor new book bundle The Great American Short Stories, The Great American Essays and The Great American Non-Required Reading
[/unordered_list]
As long as you’re a subscriber by November 30, and you’re willing to provide yeah write with your mailing address AND you didn’t miss a day, you’re eligible for the muy grande perk package random drawing. Subscribe now if you haven’t already so you won’t forget.
Oh, and don’t forget about the yeah write weekly challenge grids opening each Tuesday!
We’ll still be hosting the yeah write weekly writing challenges. If you’re planning to compete on the challenge grid as well as NaBloPoMo, we are suggesting you use your Tuesday or Wednesday challenge grid post as that day’s NaBloPoMo post. If you can write two in one day, go for it, but we’ll still be moderating challenge grid entries for our standard submission guidelines. All challenge grid posts are NaBloPoMo posts, but not all NaBlopoMo posts are challenge grid posts. Yeah write #133 weekly challenge grid is open in Tuesday’s post.
The 2013 BlogHer’s NaBloPoMo at yeah write grid is open right here…

Okay, so today was test day. My brain is fried, but I managed a post. Tomorrow, I am looking forward to following some other bloggers posting here!
Robin, go add that post to our weekend moonshine grid. We hang out over there on the weekends and make the comment rounds. You’ll have a good time 🙂
Hi, I’m completely confused! I was able to add the badge to my site, but have no idea how to add my blog to the grid! I’m slightly slow when it comes to all this website stuff. (actually, miss edee up there helps me alot!) Also, I started NaBloPoMo on the fourth of Novemeber since blogher allows you to start up until the fifth, does that mean I am not eligible to participate here? And..one more thing, If I am able to participate here, I would like to donate a giveaway, as I have an Etsy store and make very cute vintage themed coasters.
Hi Rachel, welcome! Unfortunately, we closed the NaBloPoMo grid to new entries on the fifth, so you had to add your blog by that day. However, we always love new faces, so I hope you’ll stick around as a reader. Every Friday through Sunday we host the moonshine grid, an almost anything goes grid where you can link up a post. There’s no advance sign up for that and we’d love to have you. Also, take some time to check out the FAQs and submission guidelines for the challenge grid and/or speakeasy grid, both of which open each Tuesday. Thanks for your offer to donate a giveaway as well. Perhaps we could incorporate that into a future event. I hope to see you on an upcoming moonshine, speakeasy or challenge grid!
Hi Michelle, thanks for getting back to me! I will definitely stick around and participate in other writing challenges! I’m glad to have found this site. Best – Rachel
I didn’t know the grid closes. I did tweet using inlinz on both of my Twitter accounts.
I’m hoping I can also leave a link here???

After the craziness of this week (big exam Friday – study, study, study), I am hoping to become more acquainted with yeah write’s site, so that I can participate in some of your writing challenges.
You’re at #97 on the grid. It’s your homepage, so when someone clicks on your avatar, it will give them access to all your published posts.
We’d love for you to participate in our other challenges. Thanks for clicking around and reading!
Thanks, Erica. I guess I should have looked a little closer at the grid.
I just went to your blog: free fringes – Very cool. Is there a way to follow you? Or am I missing something that is as plain as the nose on my face?
Thanks for the blog compliment! I think you can open an individual post, fill in your info in a comment, then check the box that says “send me more posts” or something like that. If that doesn’t work, I guess I should add a subscribe button 🙂
Like I said – plain as the nose on my face 🙂
Here we go again! Fun stuff! And I like the button too.
Hello 🙂 I added the badge first then did the add link back thing, but it did the soft error thing. I did click “add anyway” but I’m not seeing my blog in the grid. This is my first year doing this, so please let me know if I’ve missed a step!
I am excited for this week’s submissions and nablopomo! But…a question for anyone using blogger/blogspot, how do I add the nablopomo/yeahwrite button as a side bar button for my blog? And any clue why iPhones and yeahwrite seem compatible for adding buttons to posts…only half the time?
Off to get writing…and posting once I am on a cooperative computer!
Hello Erica,
I submitted my particulars with the link-up. There seemed to be an error; I didn’t get what it meant but I had the option to submit it anyway and that is what I did.
Would you enlighten me with the fact whether I have done it correctly or not?
Thanks. 🙂
-HA
Hey, HA, sorry for the frustration. For the Inlinkz app to accept the submission right away, the badge coded with the backlink must be installed somewhere on your blog. If it’s not, it gives that soft error message and sends your blog to the moderation queue. I rescued your blog and you’re now showing on the NaBloPoMo grid. Thanks so much for joining us!
I like that the button will look nice on my blog! 😀
I can’t believe it’s been a year already since the last NaBloPoMo. I’m wondering if I’ve got what it takes to participate this year.
