These past few weeks have been so much fun, right? Right? You’ve found new blogs to read and new people to tweet. And new anxieties to suppress. I know how hard it is to put your blogging and writing skills on display. Not only for subtle critique, but a popular vote, too? Whew, that took a lot of balls and vagina, and I’m proud of everyone who stood up and took a chance.
So over on the Mommy Shorts Facebook page, there is a hilarious evil baby glare-off contest. Moms like me who had photos of their evil babies uploaded the most evil ones, and the babies are being pitted against each other in an evil baby v. evil baby Facebook comment-off. It’s going basically like this:
[I’m changing the baby names because one poor baby’s family is stone cold crazy and I like to live not only drama-free, but my-own-murder-free]
“I vote Emma!”
“I vote Sarah!”
“Ooooh, Sarah looks more pouty than evil, so I vote Emma!”
“Emma’s stare is more like a Zoolander, so I vote Sarah!”
“Who the fuck you calling Zoolander?” [Emma’s mother]
“Whoever called my grandbaby Zoolander better sleep with the lights on tonight, and I bet’ not find out where she lives!” [Emma’s grandmother]

The scoring, popular vote:

2nd most votes: 10 points
3rd most votes: 5 points
The scoring, judges’ votes:
each first place vote: 40 points
each second place vote: 20 points
each third place vote: 10 points
Everybody gets one vote. Voting closes at midnight eastern daylight time [-4 GMT].
Judges will post their individual favorites starting Monday. Winner announced Friday, October 14.

My twitter, TweetDeck, Hootsuite (yes I have all) have somehow gone kaput so I couldn’t tweet my appreciation. I guess I’m not the only one who’s lying on the side of the road, badly beaten and ego-bruised (ha!).
Nah! Seriously though, this was my first time ever enrolling myself through this kind of self-torture, masochistic voting competition, and now that I have, I will NEVER EVER put myself through something like this again. Ok, you can strike that. I probably will. What I wanted to say though, was that I had (surprisingly) lots of fun doing this. And in some sick perverse way, I felt loved (by those who voted for me, of course ;).

This is a fun contest with a lot of wonderful blogs but I have to tell you, this site looks very different on my work computer. It was so hard to read and there were no stars to vote, I had to wait until I got home and now….it looks great. Two of us had the same problem so perhaps it was the formatting. Really nice site now:)

My wife had me read a couple of these and I can definitely relate to the Peek blog about talking toddlers. So well-written and brings me back to when my kids were little. This is really a great site for discovering new blogs to read. I’ll definitely be back!

I’m losing! I’m totally crashing and burning! I have tried to convince my husband to galvanize his infinite teams of minions at IBM and force them to vote for me or be fired but for some reason (perhaps he doesn’t want them to read about him on my blog?) he’s not cooperating! Mon dieu! Totally freakish flashbacks to high school! I’m going to go stand by I-270 holding a sign that says, VOTE FOR ME, PLEASE – should get a few carloads to come vote!! Be right back…
