Greetings, Earthlings!
Thanks for another thrilling 12 hours! We closed the grid early again this week, thanks in part to ten – yes, TEN – gargleblaster virgins. That means almost a quarter of you are brand-new to this particular challenge. Welcome! We applaud your bravery.
While you’re here, take some time to get to know the community a little. Here’s one place to start: the Who’s on Fourth interview series. One member of the yeah write community interviews another yeah writer, and the interview is published the fourth Monday of each month. This month’s post features Arden R of Writing While Wineing interviewing Bill Dameron of The Authentic Life. Go on and read it now.
Looking for more writing fun? The challenge grid and the speakeasy both open Tuesday. Read the rules and see if one of these might tickle your fancy. If you’re looking for something more low-key, stick around for the weekend moonshine grid and post whatever you like over there (as long as it’s commercial-free). Don’t forget that the challenge grid and the speakeasy, like the gargleblaster, are also family-free for the next three weeks. The moonshine grid is fair game for your family-related stories.

Voting the yeah write way
It never hurts to go over the voting rules. Please take note:
- The gargleblaster is not a click-fest or a popularity contest. We want you to vote based on the merits of the submissions. Each visitor gets 3 votes, and none may vote for his or her own submission. Read them all, then vote. Gargleblasters are short and go down easy – it shouldn’t take that long.
- We encourage you to invite your friends, families and fans to visit and vote. If you ask your people to vote for your entry, please let them know they have three votes, and they should vote for yours only if it’s one of the best on the grid. Campaigning for your own targeted votes is highly discouraged.
- Yeah write and the InLinkz app allow only one set of votes per IP address. Again: one person, one set of votes. Sure, there are ways to get around this restriction, but that’s cheating, and the editors will more than likely notice. Besides, do you really want to win that way? We didn’t think so!
- The editors do monitor the voting to keep things fair. If we notice targeted voting, self-voting, or other rules-flouting, we will remove votes.
Voting is open until Tuesday, 10:00 PM Eastern
Scroll down to view the grid. While voting is open, you’ll see voting icons on each thumbnail. If you don’t see the icons, voting is closed. You may vote for three favorites by clicking the voting icon. Once you’ve voted, the icon will disappear. You’re done, and you can spend the rest of your time campaigning for your favorites!
Winners will be posted on Wednesday by 12:00 PM Eastern
You’re all winners in our book just for participating, but the crowd favorite walks away with the coveted gargleblaster winner’s badge.
Okay,a tough choice but finally finished reading and voting:-)Thank you to all those who visited my blog, read ,liked and/or commented-will catch up tomorrow-need to go to bed 🙂
Is it also possible to have the number of hours remaining to vote to be seen under the posts?Am asking cos only now I have become free and its already past 12 midnight here-ah well, will try to read as many as I can .
Hmm, that’s a good question. I don’t think that InLinkz provides that option, but I will look into it. I agree that it would be very helpful!
Christine, the collections used to show how many hours were left in the voting, but that feature disappeared with some other useful functions. I think there is a suggestion box on the Inlinkz site; maybe we can request its return.
I voted for my first two most favorites and now I have 5 more favorite posts waiting for the third heart button. I wish I had 7 hearts to give. 🙁
I found myself in the same boat!
am i the only one who accidentally puts in a vote at times? argh. too bad we couldn’t get a dummy box asking us if we’re sure we want to vote before the vote registers.
I’ve had near misses when I want to re-read a post and almost click the heart. And don’t even get me started on the time I tried to use an iPad.
If you are really disappointed, email Christine to see if she can adjust your vote.
