This is gonna be a hard post to write because I want to include everybody in it. There were so many wonderful entries, I should turn this into a school field day where everybody gets a ribbon. I still remember my fifth grade field day on which I was rocking the chartreuse gauchos. Good times.
Virgins!
Eight newbies this week, and what a week it was. I hope you guys had a good time and enjoyed showing off your wares to your new visitors. Thanks for jumping right into the fray, and we hope to see you for yeah write #50.
Editor’s choice by Erica
Kim at Mama Mzungu wins for detailing the conflict between letting her toddler cry and fidget in public, attempting to soothe him with Verse 6,000 of Kum Ba Ya or shutting him up with an iPhone app. Like Kim, Q and I carry electronic gadgets everywhere, but it’s a no-brainer for us, guilty parental conscience be damned. Are Kim and her husband and my husband and I frying our children’s young brains with all the screen time? Maybe. Probably. But they are quiet and, for the moment, not tearing up anything or kicking us in the neck. It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. Congrats, Kim, on the win.
Lurker’s favorite by Flood
Flood chose Michelle’s The Journey story of finishing her first 5K run in tears, but finishing it. Flood writes:
Congrats, Michelle, on the win.
Lurker’s favorite by Q
Q’s pick was Tracy’s at Scribblesaurus open letter to construction workers begging inviting them to pay attention to her as they once did in her youth. Well-constructed with tongue-in-cheek, Q enjoyed the humorous look at what many of us previously considered an annoyance, but could maybe appreciate on the other side of 30. Congrats, Tracy, on the win.
Popular vote winner
Kim at The G is Silent never once gave up her lead for the win as her post about the day her father was killed in the line of duty struck many of us with its honesty and unfolding tragedy told through the memory of an eight-year-old narrator. This is Kim’s very first popular win at yeah write, and it was incredibly well-deserved. Congrats, Kim, on the bittersweet win.

Thanks, Grandy!
Random WordPress theme winner
I just broke Louise Ducote’s 44-year streak of never randomly winning anything with random.org. There were only eight people entered, so she had a pretty good chance, but still, that’s pretty awesome. Congrats, Louise! Please browse the Elegant Themes site then email me with your choice of template.
Superfecta challenge points
Four eventual winners, four current leaders:
Stacey at Confessions of a Super Mommy [55]
Kristin at That Unique Weblog [51]
Gia at Mayor Gia [46.4]
Katie at Chicken Noodle Gravy [45.4]
The full spreadsheet with everyone’s point totals is here and available for download.
Win-win
The thumbnails are now sorted in the grid from most yellow star votes to the least. In the case of a tie, like if four blogs all got seven votes each, the thumbnails are additionally sorted by page views. Do not be discouraged if your blog has landed near the bottom of the grid; it is always a tight race. The fun lies in getting better exposure for your blog and in the spirit of competition as incentive to improve your writing and blogging skills. It’s a win-win for everybody involved.
Thanks again, everybody, for linking up, for reading, for voting. And for making yeah write the most welcoming spot on the Interwebs for writers who blog and bloggers who write.
Yeah write #50 opens Tuesday.

I was amazed at the writing this week…not only at the skill, but also at the depth of passion exhibited by everyone…in their posts AND comments. The humorists in the group were stellar and helped me recover from tears. And within all of this creative crafting, I learned so much about a variety of topics. I am grateful and honored to be in this community.
Congrats to all the well-deserved winners!!
Congratulations to all the winners! And I wish I could give prizes out to the wonderful comments I received. This week was so hard to write without using expletives or just puking anger on the page. It made me so very happy (getting teary as I type this) that I could play a small part in spreading the word. Thank you so much.
congrats to all- another fantastic week of amazing stuff.
Hi Erica,
I’m a non-blogger, but can’t seem to stay away from this page. It’s wonderful! I love reading all the entries each week and comparing my choices with your’s and everyone else’s.
Keep up the great work and blog-on!
Grandy is my mom (@mommamacsmilf). She is a wonderful supporter of my writing ventures and is an avid reader. She enjoyed everyone’s blog so much. Thanks for letting me participate.
This was a strong week of posts, but I’m so glad Michelle Longo won something because hers was the one I keep thinking about. And how excited am I to be the random winner? The curse has been lifted! Thanks, Erica!
The last two weeks linking up here have been amazing. Between the wonderful writers I’ve discovered, the friendly chats I’ve had with people – I feel it, there is community here. I wish I could hug all of you. Thank you Flood for your kind words and for picking my post. I am honored to be among this crowd of talented people. Seriously, this made my week.
Thanks for the nod Erica! I’m surprised and honored to be recognized among such a strong group of talented writers. Truth is I spend the few hours a week I allow myself to be online and not feel guilty about it perusing Yeah Write blogs and thinking up the one post a week I can manage with a newborn. Well worth it! I’m so glad to be part of this community!
