So the hobo who offered to adopt all three of my kids didn’t pass the background check. That completely unexpected wrinkle cut short my trip to far far away during this spring break, so here I am with your winners’ post.

Virgins!

Seven newbies this week! Thanks so much for jumping right in there with us, even though I know it was probably a little overwhelming. You guys did great. One of you won the popular vote, so that’s awesome.

Editor’s choice by Erica

I was touched by Sara’s post at Sunshine and Salad about her young son trying to process the death of Sara’s younger sister, the aunt he never got to meet. I just wanna say there were so many good posts this week, I had such a hard time choosing. I put myself in Sara’s place, unable to imagine losing my little sister, and chose this week’s winner with my heart and emotions. Sara, I’m sorry for your loss. Please accept the win with our sincere condolences.

Lurker’s favorite by Flood

Flood went with Lance at My Blog Can Beat Up Your Blog. Flood writes:

Lance’s opening paragraph of I’m the Man grabbed me quickly, mostly because if you pay any attention to me, you’ll know I’m a drag queen trapped in a woman’s body, so I could identify with his lesbian declaration. Lance bravely wrote about International Women’s Day, touching briefly on the absurdity of it all. It’s brave because I would never write out my thoughts on International Woman’s Day and I’m an international woman. His earnest plea to other men, and promise to himself, that women be treated well is a universal call to all of us.

Congrats, Lance, on the win.

Lurker’s favorite by Q

The humor and straight-forward narrative of Kim P’s post at The G is Silent grabbed Q from the beginning. As Kim tells the story of her mother’s addiction to attention, it gets funnier and funnier to Kim’s readers, and quickly becomes obvious that Kim isn’t so happy about her mother’s adventures. Dunno. What’s so wrong with a mom and grandma putting her sex life out on the Interwebs for everyone to see? I mean, she got a gift basket out of it. Settle down, Kim, and congrats on the win.

Popular choice

Well, Ben at Dad of the Decade certainly took us by storm, didn’t he? First time linking up and he takes the popular win with a post explaining his single fatherhood and his strong bond to his daughter Emma. Ben has a brand-new blog, but I can tell he’s an experienced writer. He gave his readers the right amount of detail about a very private matter—not too much, not too little—and I admired his discipline. Congrats, Ben, on the win. We hope to see you next week.

Comment karma

I am so glad I read Jamie’s post at Chosen Chaos about her newfound love of the emoticon early on. Had I not, as I read her comments on all the other yeah write posts, I would have thought she was having a seizure. I spent more time trying to figure out what the heck she was trying to say with her fancy punctuation mark arrangements, I could barely pay attention to the actual comment. Her commitment to using an emoticon in each and every comment was god-awesome, y’all. Congrats, Jamie. Wait: \ö/ How’s that?

Random winner of the Elegant Themes template

Hey, Robbie of Fractured Family Tales, email me your choice! Congrats! I see you’re on Blogger, so not only will you be learning a new theme, you get to try a whole new platform. Exciting! Go here to select your theme and let me know which one you want.

Superfecta challenge points

Four eventual winners, four current leaders:

Stacey at Confessions of a Super Mommy [44.6]

Andi at Once in a Lifetime Travel [43.6]

Katie at Chicken Noodle Gravy [42.8]

Kristin at That Unique Weblog [38]

The full spreadsheet with everyone’s point totals is here and available for download.

Win-win

The thumbnails are now sorted in the grid from most yellow star votes to the least. In the case of a tie, like if four blogs all got seven votes each, the thumbnails are additionally sorted by page views. Do not be discouraged if your blog has landed near the bottom of the grid; it is always a tight race. The fun lies in getting better exposure for your blog and in the spirit of competition as incentive to improve your writing and blogging skills. It’s a win-win for everybody involved.

Thanks again, everybody, for linking up, for reading, for voting. And for making yeah write the most welcoming spot on the Interwebs for writers who blog and bloggers who write.

Yeah write #49 opens Tuesday.
