Weekly Writing Challenges Archive
Welcome to YeahWrite’s archives. Below, you’ll find all of our posts. We kick off each writing week on Friday (what?) with a new prompt for you. For 500 weeks YeahWrite hosted “weekly grids” which enabled writers to link their self-hosted responses, and to read and vote on each others’ work, as well as commenting. Check out our creative nonfiction, fiction|poetry, and microprose archives for a closer look at our nearly ten years of weekly writing competitions. While we no longer host weekly competition grids, we’re still delivering the prompts you love as well as our Super Challenge and classes. We also feature monthly instructional or challenge posts, which you’ll find collected here as well as in our writing help archive!
YeahWrite #341 Weekly Writing Challenge: Popular Vote Winners
It's been a long week Freelancers I know have had their work hours and assignments dialed back. A friend was doxxed. Two friends won't be having their leases renewed and are scrambling to find places to live. In all this, writing seems like it might as well take a...

Get Comfortable I got soaked today while hiking in the rain with my dogs, not because I didn't wear proper rain gear; I did. But the air temperature was so warm, I had to choose between the lesser of two discomforts. In the end, I stripped off my raincoat, tied it...
Congratulations to the Round 1 Winners at YeahWrite Super Challenge #6
Three groups, three prompts, two days, round one. How'd that first round of the Super Challenge go for everyone? Once again, anything that went right is entirely due to our admin team's untiring work behind the scenes, and anything you hate is probably my fault....

Revisions, revisions, revisions I know I mentioned before that I'm renovating my kitchen. We're about 75% through, and while I'm in love with the look, it's made it glaringly obvious that the rest of my first floor needs to be torn apart and done over....

YeahWrite #340 Weekly Writing Challenge: Popular Vote Winners
deepam, deepam Where our editor Asha lives, the spring's cygnets are becoming swans and the days are lengthening on toward summer. At my home, the dark wraps around the house now well before the day's work is done and I have to light a lamp to cook dinner. In the...

Both Ways I've been engrossed in a dystopian trilogy (The Passage Trilogy by Justin Cronin) for the past few weeks and suddenly only 100 pages, give or take, separate my bookmark from the end. On the one hand, I want to ignore the rest of my life and curl up on the...
Welcome to YeahWrite’s Weekly Writing Challenge #340
Go for the Unexpected I like to know what to expect and then get what I expected. But I also really like coconut. So when I noticed that Oreo now has a coconut flavored thin version, I was both annoyed (Oreos should taste like Oreos!) but also excited (coconut!). I...
