Weekly Writing Challenges Archive
Welcome to YeahWrite’s archives. Below, you’ll find all of our posts. We kick off each writing week on Friday (what?) with a new prompt for you. For 500 weeks YeahWrite hosted “weekly grids” which enabled writers to link their self-hosted responses, and to read and vote on each others’ work, as well as commenting. Check out our creative nonfiction, fiction|poetry, and microprose archives for a closer look at our nearly ten years of weekly writing competitions. While we no longer host weekly competition grids, we’re still delivering the prompts you love as well as our Super Challenge and classes. We also feature monthly instructional or challenge posts, which you’ll find collected here as well as in our writing help archive!

Don't Think. Just Do. Right now, there are four empty cans of Coke Zero, an empty can of seltzer, a whole bunch of Twizzler wrappers, and a bottle of purple hair dye. I've had the dye for a few weeks now, but I haven't used it. I still can't decide if I...

Aw, nuts! For the life of me, I cannot wait until the Halloween candy is finally gone. I almost never eat candy but the temptation of mini candy bars lying around the house is just too much. I learned something today though. Baby Ruths don't have nearly as many...

Shhh Fall is beautiful in New England but the volume of dropped leaves looms large. The main problem, as far as I'm concerned, is the noise. Leaf blowers run all day; their loud consistent buzzing makes my head want to explode. I can't escape. I can't concentrate. I...
Congratulations to the Round 2 winners at YeahWrite Super Challenge #6
When we sat down to design the Super Challenge, we asked ourselves three questions: what makes a writing contest great, what do we enjoy doing, and what is hardly anyone else doing? We came up with our prompts because they make the kind of stories and challenges that...
