Weekly Writing Challenges Archive
Welcome to YeahWrite’s archives. Below, you’ll find all of our posts. We kick off each writing week on Friday (what?) with a new prompt for you. For 500 weeks YeahWrite hosted “weekly grids” which enabled writers to link their self-hosted responses, and to read and vote on each others’ work, as well as commenting. Check out our creative nonfiction, fiction|poetry, and microprose archives for a closer look at our nearly ten years of weekly writing competitions. While we no longer host weekly competition grids, we’re still delivering the prompts you love as well as our Super Challenge and classes. We also feature monthly instructional or challenge posts, which you’ll find collected here as well as in our writing help archive!

March kinda snuck up on me Hey, who knew February only had 28 days? This week found me cursing the Gregorian calendar and frantically trying to wrap my February end-of-month details like invoices and those new Technique Toolbox and poetry slam posts. In my defense, it...
One Across – One Down
This month's poetry slam is for the spellers out there. We've rhymed this year, we've scanned, but have we used spellcheck? We have not. So let's start. (Fun fact: I once tried to talk my parents into moving because our home state didn't participate in the...
Ready, set… submit!
“That’s great, honey. Where can I read it?” If those words from my mom make you cringe too, this month’s Technique Toolbox is for you. We’re going to talk about putting your words where my mom – or anybody’s mom – can get her hands on them. Whether you’ve...

Wild Things I'm back from the land of gators and purple gallinules (I have a few more photos to show you later), but I've seen some wild things at home within the past couple of days too. The coywolves are out. No, you didn't misread that. The coyotes that roam New...
Welcome to YeahWrite’s Weekly Writing Challenge #359
Sage Advice Last weekend I was working at the Long Beach Comic Expo (and if you're near SoCal in September, I highly recommend its sister show, Long Beach Comic Con). My job as a panel room wrangler gives me a great opportunity to listen in on some great...
