Weekly Writing Challenges Archive
Welcome to YeahWrite’s archives. Below, you’ll find all of our posts. We kick off each writing week on Friday (what?) with a new prompt for you. For 500 weeks YeahWrite hosted “weekly grids” which enabled writers to link their self-hosted responses, and to read and vote on each others’ work, as well as commenting. Check out our creative nonfiction, fiction|poetry, and microprose archives for a closer look at our nearly ten years of weekly writing competitions. While we no longer host weekly competition grids, we’re still delivering the prompts you love as well as our Super Challenge and classes. We also feature monthly instructional or challenge posts, which you’ll find collected here as well as in our writing help archive!

In like a lamb, you mean? Stacie may be snowed in, but over here on the Best Coast we're having such an unbroken run of good weather that editor Christine and I met up for lunch and a long walk in a local garden... in tshirts. Usually we try to squeeze in a few extra...

You Can Do It! I'm a sucker for a good motivational speech. Yesterday, I was listening to someone I know on FB Live talking about how he grew up in a really bad area but wanted to be successful and get out. He was told numerous times that for a number of...

Congratulations to the Winners of YeahWrite’s Super Challenge #7
Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end. That quote is from Seneca, but also from that one Semisonic song that you can't get out of your head now. I can't think of a better way to embrace the diversity of the final round's entries. From persuasive...

Maybe it's the weekend. Maybe not. I got a surprise weekend in the middle of my week when a client blew a deadline by two days. The corollary is that I now no longer get a weekend on the weekend itself, but it was glorious to have those midweek days to write and edit...

Cozied Up Yesterday I was in Napa, CA, and now I'm in the middle of a nor'easter predicted to dump 15 inches of snow in my Boston burb. Normally, I'd be a lot more bothered by this scenario, because dogs. But I decided to give myself the gift of boarding them an extra...
