Weekly Writing Challenges Archive
Welcome to YeahWrite’s archives. Below, you’ll find all of our posts. We kick off each writing week on Friday (what?) with a new prompt for you. For 500 weeks YeahWrite hosted “weekly grids” which enabled writers to link their self-hosted responses, and to read and vote on each others’ work, as well as commenting. Check out our creative nonfiction, fiction|poetry, and microprose archives for a closer look at our nearly ten years of weekly writing competitions. While we no longer host weekly competition grids, we’re still delivering the prompts you love as well as our Super Challenge and classes. We also feature monthly instructional or challenge posts, which you’ll find collected here as well as in our writing help archive!

Congratulations to the Round 2 winners at YeahWrite Super Challenge #8
Round Two Roundup Time! When you're writing for a prompted competition, do you ever take the time to sit back and ask yourself what the competition is trying to "test" in your writing? For example, Round One and Round Two both were two-prompt rounds, but the prompts...

Sun Kissed The bulbs are up, the flowering trees blossoming. Many of the other trees still appear bare, with small leaf buds only visible if you look carefully. It looks like spring but the temperature is full-on summer today. I'm happy, even though it doesn't yet...
YeahWrite #368 Weekly Writing Challenge is Open for Microprose
It's my party No really, it is! May is my birthday month. and so this month's challenge is all about me. I have been accused by some - and not without some basis in fact - of letting my writing slip from the lyrical into the florid. I pile lovely phrase upon lovely...
I Ode U
I'm still skipping sonnets But it's spring here in the Pacific Northwest, and I've been reminded that it's time to explore another classic form: the ode. Odes were once so numerous that their name became a synonym for "poem." And who hasn't heard an...
