Weekly Writing Challenges Archive
Welcome to YeahWrite’s archives. Below, you’ll find all of our posts. We kick off each writing week on Friday (what?) with a new prompt for you. For 500 weeks YeahWrite hosted “weekly grids” which enabled writers to link their self-hosted responses, and to read and vote on each others’ work, as well as commenting. Check out our creative nonfiction, fiction|poetry, and microprose archives for a closer look at our nearly ten years of weekly writing competitions. While we no longer host weekly competition grids, we’re still delivering the prompts you love as well as our Super Challenge and classes. We also feature monthly instructional or challenge posts, which you’ll find collected here as well as in our writing help archive!

The Weekend Writing Showcase is open! TGIF, YeahWriters! Let’s make this place your home for all the stories that didn’t make it to the YeahWrite competitive grids this week. As a refresher, here’s what we had going on! Technique Toolbox: Writing About Writing While...
Congratulations to the Winners of YeahWrite’s Super Challenge #8
END OF LINE. For those of you whose first contact with science fiction was the final round of Super Challenge 8, that quote probably sounds more sinister than it is. But it's true- we've put the final punctuation on the final line of this Super Challenge, and we're...

Earworms Our winner on the nonfic grid may be singing lullabies, but the only song I've got stuck in my head right now is Barenaked Ladies' "One Week." It feels like everything is on a countdown timer and I'm clinging to each second. In three hours, we'll announce the...

In a Rush I've had a jam-packed day and unless I want Rowan, who proofs this post, to come after me, I'll have to be brief since I'm leaving the house again in five minutes (actually, she is always very understanding but I hate last-minute-ing her). Read! Vote!...

R-E-S-P-E-C-T Here's what it means to me. "We value inclusivity, and we respect the diversity and dignity of our audience." This statement is right there on our front page, and it's part of our internal mission statement. It's very important to us that not...

YeahWrite #370 Weekly Writing Challenge: Popular Vote Winners
Scooter Trash I have this plan for the summer, if I could just get everything to cooperate. But having 1) good weather; 2) free time; and 3) a working scooter, all at the same time, is just not coming together for me. On the plus side, I'm becoming a passable scooter...

Instant Pot Me I finally broke down and bought an Instant Pot, which I admit I'm mildly afraid to use. With everything it can do, I'm pretty sure this machine is smarter than I am. Hopefully, it will live up to my expectations of churning out delicious meals in no...
Welcome to YeahWrite’s Weekly Writing Challenge #370
The Ugly Side of Writing When I think of the top three things that hold me back as a writer (besides time, of course), they are imposter syndrome, jealousy, and fear. I know it's not glamorous to talk about this sort of thing and probably most don't want...
The Final Round of Super Challenge #8 is Underway!
Will it blend? That's the question a popular line of high-powered blenders likes to ask. In this case, the answer is yes! You can blend two genres in 1,000 words, and you can do it in 48 hours! Welcome to the final round of YeahWrite's eighth Super Challenge. We hope...
