Weekly Writing Challenges
Welcome to the YeahWrite archives. Below, you’ll find all of our daily posts. We kick off our week on Sundays with the (what else) weekly kickoff post. Our nonfiction grid opens with our Monday post, then the fiction and poetry grid opens on Tuesdays. The popular vote opens Wednesday evening and closes the same time on Thursday, and we announce our popular vote winners and editorial staff picks on Fridays. Fridays also see our weekend writing showcase open in the evenings.
Take a minute to browse or search our archives to see a typical week at YeahWrite. We also feature monthly instructional or challenge posts, which you’ll find collected here as well as in our writing help archive!

Work with me here See that picture up there? For the last three days, that was my office. I mean, not the ocean. But I took that picture from my "desk chair" with my laptop firmly planted across my legs and the novel I'm editing onscreen. Sometimes all it takes is a...read more
Quiet time My son, the recent victim of a fairly prolific spring virus, has missed school for the last two days. He has a field trip on Friday to Six Flags (I know), so I'm sure he'll be better by then. In the meantime, it's quiet here, perfect for reading the grids....read more
I've Heard It All Before I'm gonna ask all of you to indulge me a moment while I fess up to a writing pet peeve. Out of all the thousands of clichés in all of writing history there is one that almost always makes me grit my teeth: Tears. (You couldn't hear it, but the...read more

So What're You Gonna Do? You've heard the advice about getting out of your comfort zone to help your writing. We all know that submitting work opens you up to rejection, and that alone can be enough of a deterrent. It's hard to find time to write. Life gets in the way...read more
Eighteen writers enter. Ten writers leave. While my part of the world is certainly starting to feel like a blisteringly hot dystopia, I'm not quite ready to go full Mad Max yet. Instead, I'm looking for a distraction, and I've got eighteen great writers lined up in...read more
