Weekly Writing Challenges Archive
Welcome to YeahWrite’s archives. Below, you’ll find all of our posts. We kick off each writing week on Friday (what?) with a new prompt for you. For 500 weeks YeahWrite hosted “weekly grids” which enabled writers to link their self-hosted responses, and to read and vote on each others’ work, as well as commenting. Check out our creative nonfiction, fiction|poetry, and microprose archives for a closer look at our nearly ten years of weekly writing competitions. While we no longer host weekly competition grids, we’re still delivering the prompts you love as well as our Super Challenge and classes. We also feature monthly instructional or challenge posts, which you’ll find collected here as well as in our writing help archive!
Congratulations to the Winners of YeahWrite’s Super Challenge #22
We're here, we're full of cheer... We're the YeahWrite ... editeers? Yeah, that's not working for me either. You know what is? That day off we're having in the USA. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I think we can agree that a day off work is something to give...
YeahWrite #559 Weekly Writing Challenge
Omicron, oh omicron I live in a relative utopia. I'm not being facetious, or delusional. For the last two years, as Covid19 and its offspring have ravaged the world, life has been pretty much normal in my state. We've barely worn masks, had less than a month total of...
YeahWrite #558 Weekly Writing Challenge
'Tis the Season Many holidays abound throughout the months of November and December, and I don't know about you all, but I am exhausted. Not only do I typically bear the labor of organizing family events, what to cook, what to do, presents to get, decorations to put...
YeahWrite #557 Weekly Writing Challenge
Bits and Pieces "Oh, hey, Wheel of Time?" I asked, walking past my spouse's computer where the corner of one character's sholder was visible. I haven't seen an episode yet, but the stitching on that coat is distinctive. Some of my favorite characters are introduced...
The final round of Super Challenge #22 is underway!
Also, I'm a Robot Bunny Or at least that's what a kid just said to me. Kids are great, which I say from the very safe distance of only having to deal with them when I feel like it. I'm an excellent auntie. But that got us thinking: what two genres would you have to...
YeahWrite #556 Weekly Writing Challenge
My favorite things For many people, it's a gift-giving time of year, and what better way to celebrate the end of 2021 than with some new books and accessories for yourself or your friends? I can't speak for the entire YeahWrite team, but here are five of my personal...
Congratulations to the Round 1 winners at YeahWrite Super Challenge #22
Patterns Don't skip this part of the post. Seriously. I know you're here for the list of winners, BUT. This round's judges were a fantastic team, including folks who read and edit for Markets You Have Definitely Heard Of, and we're proud to have professionals like...
Navigating Prompts: Roundup
It's about the journey, not the destination But the destination is here regardless: it's December and our Navigating Prompts workshop has come to an end. But don't worry. We have a tremendously cool (do we still say that?) workshop coming in 2022 to help you polish...
YeahWrite #555 Weekly Writing Challenge
But My Panic Room Is Nice I don't know about you but society seems to be picking back up lately. This week before Thanksgiving has been the busiest I've been since the pandemic started. My tolerance for being busy has lowered, I've noticed. Days when I had...
YeahWrite #554 Weekly Writing Challenge
Oooh, baby Listen, I spent the day with a baby today. I got to hold her, feed her, burp her, and sniff that gorgeous new baby smell that wafts from the top of her teeny tiny head. And because I'm not the parent, I had none of the associated stresses. I could indulge...
