Our first summertime challenge grid!
Yeah, yeah, we know it’s not exactly summer, but it’s post-Memorial Day, and that’s close enough. We know you could have spent your first warm weather week anywhere, and we’re glad you spent part of it with us. Welcome welcome to our first-timers.
Crowd favorite
“Nursing a Crush” by Kirsten Oliphant at I Still Hate Pickles
Kirsten’s one-finger typing while nursing while playing the latest time suck earned the popular vote this week. Readers liked the way she structured the post and, very likely, empathized with her need for “me time” while juggling three of the most awesomely named children this side of the Rio Grande. Congrats, Kirsten, on the win. Please grab your winner’s badge from the right sidebar.
Wait, what? Is that it? Where’s the invitational and the editor picks?
Dang. For another week, we didn’t reach 30 entries on the challenge grid, so the jury prize and the editor picks weren’t awarded. Next week, next week. I can feel it coming. We need some sort of word of mouth campaign. Know anybody who knows anybody?
Weekend moonshine grid opens today at 6 p.m. eastern time!
Yeah write is now open on the weekends—no editors, no voting, no writer’s block—just hanging out in the clearing among the trees and discarded moonshine jugs. Use this chance to show the yeah write community the other side of your blog—your top 10 lists, your stream-of-consciousness posts, that hilarious text message exchange with your brother. No commercial or sponsored posts allowed, but this will be a good space for letting us all know when you have a cool blog event coming up.
The moonshine grid opens at 6 p.m. eastern time each Friday and will close by 12:01 a.m. each Monday. Grab the badge from the sidebar and go find the perfect post to share!
Win-win
The thumbnails are now sorted in the grid from most votes to the least. In the case of a tie, the thumbnails are additionally sorted by page views. Part of the top row five? Please grab a winners’ badge from the sidebar and display it proudly on your own blog. Congrats!
Do not be discouraged if your blog has landed near the bottom of the grid; it is always a tight race. The fun lies in getting better exposure for your blog and in the spirit of competition as incentive to improve your writing and blogging skills. It’s a win-win for everybody involved.
Thanks again, everybody, for linking up, for reading, for accepting the weekly writing challenge. And for making yeah write the most welcoming spot on the Interwebs for writers who blog and bloggers who write.
Wait. Before you go
Congratulate this week’s winners in comments. Yeah write #113 opens Tuesday…

Congrats to Kristen and the Top Row 5! What a great week of writing (but really, aren’t they all?). See you all next week!
I thought this week’s grid was really strong! I guess summer weather agrees with us! Loved the listing and imagery, Kirsten. And thanks for introducing me to Candy Crush. Now I know to stay AWAY.
Yes, Congrats to Kristen from one who struggled for years to get an infant in my arms. Those are chaotic and very precious moments with your new one.
Congrats, Kirsten!
I’m so excited and honored! And typing with two hands to say thank you!
