Movin’ on up
We’ve got some great news to share!
You all know Nate as the head barista over at the yeah write coffeehouse. He’s also a fantastic writer, a thoughtful commenter and an all-around amazing guy. And so, we are ridiculously pleased to announce that he’s officially joined the yeah write editorial staff! Don’t worry – Nate will continue to serve up his signature double shots of espresso every week for your writing pleasure; you’ll just get to see even more of him around here.
Welcome, Nate![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”22650″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” style=”vc_box_circle”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]It has never been confirmed that Nate lives in a secret base in a skyscraper near the Loop in Chicago. Nor is there any truth to the rumors that he can shoot blue lasers from his eyes, fly, or operate the Batplane. He does not spend his evenings fighting horrors from beneath the soil and he has never passed a weekend trading stories with Cuchulainn and Lugh.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]
This week’s ultimate question: where were you when the earth stopped turning?
Answer this question in exactly 42 words for the gargleblaster micro challenge, or use it to inspire your submission to the other competitive grids.
Tips for your microstories
This week’s question requires two things for a good answer: 1) a place, and 2) a major change or paradigm shift. You can answer this literally – a literal place, the actual earth stopping – or metaphorically – a place in your life, a life change. A good answer will have one specific person in one specific place (literal or metaphorical). Note that the question is in the past tense – your answer should be too.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Winners’ round-up
In case you missed them, you can find the yeah write #196 staff picks and crowd favorites all laid out for you on Friday’s winners’ post. Leave the winners some love in the comments. They will love you right back, we guarantee it.
The weekend’s not over: the moonshine grid is still open. Have something to add? Old posts and new are welcome. No moderation, no voting. It’s a laid-back relaxed kind of place. Drop by, share your work, and while you’re there, visit your fellow yeah writers.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
How yeah write works
We’ve got three competitive challenge grids — nonfiction, fiction|poetry and microstories. They are all moderated. Submissions which do not meet our editorial guidelines will not be passed through to the voting grid.
