Who’s ready for the final round?

We are, and we hope our ten finalists are, because it kicks off this Friday!

Round 2 writers, if you don’t have your feedback, please send us an email at superchallenge@yeahwrite.me, ’cause that email should have reached you about twelve hours ago.

Once again, anything that went right is entirely due to Arden, Christine and Stacie’s untiring work behind the scenes, and anything you hate is all me.

Round two had another solid batch of entries from both groups, and I’m really excited to read the stories from our final round. Before I tell you who’s moving on, though, let me give you a behind the scenes peek into the judges’ roundup that we had a couple days ago. One thing that we noticed is that often one judge will focus on a broad sweeping positive that a writer has in their work, like good dialogue or thorough descriptions. Another judge reading the same story might focus on a specific negative, like “this line of dialogue was stilted” or “every item on the table at dinner was described with exactly three adjectives and it made that section of the story drag.” That doesn’t mean that those statements have an irreconcilable conflict; instead it means that you’ve done the thing generally well but this one spot could have used some improvement to bring it up to the standard you set for yourself in the remainder of the story. Enough, already, is my name in this thing or not?

The top 10 writers will be moving on to our final round. We’ll release the prompt on Friday, but this round you’ll be receiving two genres and incorporating elements of each to build your tale, so make sure you’re familiar with the hallmarks of different types of storytelling and maybe get ready to do a little research! In alphabetical order, our round three writers will be:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Michael Atkinson
Meryn Beattie
Donna-Louise Bishop
Danielle Dayney
Amy Palen
Jaimie Smith-Windsor
Patricia Tuthill
Karen Vernon
Paige Vest
Lani Watt[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Wait, wait, there’s more!

First of all, writers, congratulations and keep your eyes peeled for that email Friday at 10pm US Eastern time with your prompt assignments.

Second, all writers are now free to share their round two stories any way they like. Just to make it easy, we’ve made a round two grid. If you want to put your story on your blog (or anywhere on the ‘net) and link it up here, we’re sharing this grid on this post and the main page for the super challenge. Just click the submission link below and enter the URL where you’ve posted your work. Please use the same email you used for the super challenge so we know it’s you, and don’t worry if you don’t see your post right away: we’re moderating entries to make sure only our round two writers link up to this grid.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
