Lovelinks #10 opens Thursday with a bit of a twist:
There will be the usual lovelinks, but with a prize for the winner chosen by the most votes. Usually the winner gets a tweet.
Then there will be a bonus lovelinks that I’m spending the week populating with everyone who has participated in the first nine weeks as a lovelinked blog, commenter, voter or lurker. Oh, wait, I can’t do anything for the lurkers except a virtual high five because I have no way of knowing who they are. Virtual high five, lurkers. You rock. I’m gonna link up everybody else in a text linky a little bit every day, then let the inlinkz program choose a random winner.
What are the prizes? I don’t know. I’m debating between Amazon and Target gift cards. The only reason I’m leaning away from iTunes is not everyone has an iTunes account. I thought about vodka for a second, but by the time I would make it to the post office, the bottle would be half empty. Then there was the time Q and I gave away Texas kitsch in a comment contest on our old blog, but one of the winners lived in Puerto Rico, and he and I had a heart attack when we found out how much it would cost to send her the bag of Blow Pops she wanted as her prize.
Lesson learned: digital gifts only.
Wanna see the marketing copy I wrote at three o’clock one morning for my new adventure? I drafted Abby as my senior editor who didn’t seem to mind being drunk-dialed at 3:30. She gave it an A or whatever it is editors give you when they don’t throw your copy back in your face bleeding and dying from red ink. Thanks, Abby!
