It’s game time at Scrumplet’s baby shower, and I’m glad this is a virtual, online party for my friend Alison since game time at regular parties usually has me hiding in a closet with my flask practicing my goodbyes to the host.
Stasha, Ado and I are hosting this party for Alison, and each of us have chosen a game for the guests to play. Would you mind calling your mom or whoever is the old, faded family photo-keeper and link up with us using one of your baby pics? If you don’t have one, use another cute kid.
Stasha’s game
I wandered over to Pinterest, learned how to use the damn thing, then chose two gifts for Scrumplet, both technology related. The first one we can eat here at the baby shower. It’s an iPad cake and I hope the Mama Wants This family understands they will be shelling out soon enough for a second iPad since babies are not historically good sharers. Monkey, Alison’s older boy, will lay Scrumplet out at first drool over the current one.

The second gift will get baby Scrumplet ready for his career as a stay-at-home blogger when three years from now, toddlers will be making money at blogging just like the Jetsons predicted. The text on the t-shirt above the retro typewriter is hard to read in the photo because, apparently, Uncommon Goods doesn’t know how to use Pinterest either. It says: so my story begins. Too cute.

Ado’s game
Ado wants us to share our favorite baby photo along with our favorite motherhood quote. This is a photo of my three children, now 17, 10 and 3, when they were 14, 7 and no more than 137 days old. I used to take a photo-a-day of Ehren and on this day, he wasn’t exactly happy about it, so I stuck him between his sister Jordan and brother Jon Alex to make him even more excited about the prospect.
Those of you who know me understand I am not sentimental at all, so I’ve never bothered with a quote about motherhood (they have those?) except to say: don’t do it and if you do, don’t do it at the grocery store; they will buy $3.79 bags of Cheetos then eat them in one sitting.
Erica’s game
Guessing the actual birth date, weight and length of baby Scrumplet. Here goes nothing:
Alison’s due date is May 9, so I’m going with May 5.
Weight: 7 lbs, 7 oz [3.37 kilos]
Length: 20.5 inches [52.1 cm]
Whew! Gaw. Where is my flask?
I love those gifts. That iPad cake is so perfect for Alison!
And that pic of your little ones is precious. I love their different expressions! Haha!
I love that onesie/t-shirt from uncommongood.com…”so my story begins” It is perfect, perfect, perfect. Thanks for being a great hostess!
Hands down – best Motherhood quote ever. HA. And I want to squish those beautiful kids of your’s cheeks – in a nice, sweet, gentle way of-course. Adorable.
Truthfully, May 6 is the BEST day to be born. It is the Day of the Materialized Fantasy. Birthday of Willie Mays, Rudolph Valentino, George Clooney, and … ME 🙂
This momma wants the iPad cake, oh wait, this isn’t about me.
Your children are beautiful, Erica! SO let me get this straight. The totally non-sentimental mom took a picture a day Of Ehren? Bit of a contradiction, just saying. 😉
And beyond what anyone would stereotype me, baby shower games make me twitchy, too. I could get into a shower where we sat around with our iPads and scavenger hunted Pinterest. Shh, forget I said that. Going to go market that right now. Ellen
Congrats, Alison!
I totally wet myself looking at the iPad cake!! (ok stress incontinence might have something to do with that – what, TMI?)
Love the onesie as I’mma totally sucker for onesies with clever captions.
Oh my gosh, how cute are your children?????????????????
I’m guessing May 5 too! Only because I like the date – 5/5. No chance of his father forgetting.
Thanks for throwing me this awesome baby shower!! xo
I don’t think Scrumplet will arrive before May 9. But that’s probably cuz I haven’t known ANY babies who came early.
Heh. Monkey arrived 3 days before his due date, and he was my first. So……
Go you! Kids don’t share old cherrios they find under the car seat so new iPad is indeed the first purchase Alison should consider. Love your quote.
I gotta tell my husband to prepare himself for a second iPad purchase……..
That baby photo is adorable.
Your 3 kids are adorable.
The post is adorable.
I want me some iPad cake. I’m off to go learn how to use Pinterest tonight…
I agree that moms need iPads. And oh, shut up about motherhood quotes. You know you’re a sucker at heart. 😛
Okay, you got me. Let me try another one:
“You spent how much on apps and songs this weekend? Your limit was $20!!!”
—Eleanor Roosevelt
Are you sure that was one of Eleanor Roosevelt’s quotes? (-:
