Get a head start

If you are registered for yeah write’s super challenge—and as a participant in the creative nonfiction grid, I hope you are!—allow me to let you in on a secret: now is the time to practice. If you haven’t written recently, you want to get back into the groove, tout de suite.

As you write your nonfiction piece for the grid this week, go back and read some of Rowan’s very helpful nonfiction know-how tutorials in the yeah write archives. You’ll find advice on showing not telling, finding inspiration, phrasing and more. Try to apply these tips before you hit “submit.” Then read and think more about what makes a great nonfiction story. By the time Friday rolls around and the super challenge starts, you’ll be ready to conquer anything. (Details on the challenge below if you haven’t registered yet!)

Yeah write super challenge!!!

It seems like just yesterday we announced our newest challenge here at yeah write, and it’s finally here! Don’t worry though. You still have a few days left to register for our first nonfiction super challenge, a six week, three-round writing competition with cash prizes! You can read all about it here. Registration ends at 11:59pm ET on July 6 and the contest kicks off July 8. Sign up today![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Looking for the nonfiction know-how?

For the next two months, we’re taking some time off from our nonfiction know-how feature to focus on the super challenge. However, you can always check out our archives if you’re needing a little more inspiration this week. Happy writing!

Is this your first time here? Check out Sunday’s post which kicked off the week here at yeah write. Our email subscribers can also join us in the yeah write coffeehouse at its home on Facebook. If you’ve never taken the time to read them, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our submission guidelines. The rules are a little different for each of our challenges and we’d hate to have to send back great writing on a technicality.

Did you happen to end up here because you suddenly saw yeah write in your stats? Sometimes members of our community spot excellent writing and they send those posts on over to us. We hope you don’t mind. Take a look around and get to know our community. We’re sure you’ll be happy here.

Have questions you can’t find the answer to by poking around the site? Email us or find us on Facebook and Twitter and we’ll happily help you out.
