Back to business

In my neck of the woods, we technically enter fall on Wednesday. I’m the kind of person who really only gauges the season by my level of physical discomfort: too hot, too cold, or the very-rarely-experienced almost comfortable. This week in New Jersey it’s almost bearable, which means it might as well almost be winter. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We need to enjoy autumn while we can.

More important than the return of sweater weather and the ridiculous need for everyone to put pumpkin, pumpkin flavor, and “pumpkin spice” in every single thing imaginable, is the return of moderation!

[insert celebratory noises here]

If you’re new around here, our regular submission process involves submitting your work and having it reviewed by our team of editors. If approved, it is pushed forward to our voting grid where it will compete with others in the popular vote and be eligible to become an editor’s pick. I know, that can sound intimidating and maybe even a bit of a hassle, but we find that our writers reach even higher when moderation is happening.

Competition is good for us all. It helps us to up our game and it can bring out the best in us. Show us what you’ve got. Bring us your very best work and blow us away.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

How long has it been?

This optional prompt, which also serves as the ultimate question for the microstory challenge opening Wednesday, is here to serve as your inspiration for your nonfiction submission. Already have your own story thought up? No problem! The prompt is only there if you need it.
