[dropcap1]I[/dropcap1] often wonder to myself if lovelinks were curated by nearly any other blogger but me, would I link up? I’d love the exposure for my smaller blog, and I’d be all into the friendships that started with lovelinks that would then eventually have very little to do with lovelinks, but would I really put my writing up for competition week after week?

Dunno.

I doubt it.

Putting my writing out for the Internet’s nom-nomming was how I lost confidence in myself as a writer in the very first place. My first blog was a writer’s blog, and I fell into this wonderful writers’ circle of published writers who ran circles around me with both legs pinned behind their ears. I still keep up with most of them. I’m Facebook friends with a few, some I follow on Twitter and Fictionaut. Feeling so inferior kicked my little professional corporate writer, unpublished fiction writer booteh.

But Deborah at MannaHatta Mamma asked in comments a while back how come I never link up my own stuff, and that got me thinking, well, why not? Why not this one time? So this one time, I’ll link up the submission I sent last week to the Erma Bombeck Writer’s Workshop. First place in the contest gets the winner a trip to the Dayton, Ohio, workshop in April. I really wanna go. So I entered a writing contest for the first time in more than three years. I’m sharing it on lovelinks. Weirdly meta.

Yeah, my Headway theme broke on me again, so here we are with a new WordPress theme built from scratch. I’ve got some tweaking to do, but it’ll be our lovelinks home for a while. Thanks to my husband Q for technical help when this new theme framework was giving me fits, thanks to Flood for letting me display her Flickr stream in the footer. I like to pretend she still has a blog like in the old days when we met.

Don’t forget my offer of an iTunes song of your choosing when an XY chromosome blogger links up at your recommendation. This is a fun girls club we have going, but it’s not like it’s the Junior League. Another type of blogging voice would be good for the process. Bring me those men.

Lovelinks #39 is open.
