Woo hoo! Three days, a chicken burrito and a Solo cup of vodka later, I am feeling much better! Thanks, guys, for the well wishes and for holding down the lovelinks fort while I was gone. I managed to tweet your posts from my deathbed, and I’ll send your “vote for me” tweets throughout the day on Thursday. If you’re not following me yet on Twitter, it’s cool and all, but you’re missing out.

Here’s how lovelinks voting works:

Everybody gets three votes for his or her favorites. It pays to read and interact with everyone else on the grid. People know you and like you? They vote for you. You’re all crotchety and distant? You go down as the first white guy in history to lose to the black dude for U.S. president. That’s science.

To vote, click the yellow star. Depending on the browser, it’s either above or below each thumbnail. After each click, the page will refresh—that’s the quirk of the linkup program. Once you’ve voted three times, the stars will disappear. You’re done voting.

Feel free to campaign through social media for votes, but I highly discourage vote bombing. We like for voters to actually read the posts and make thoughtful decisions. So if you cruise for votes, as is your right, please ask your voters to read a few of the other entries and choose two other favorites. They could find a nice surprise buried in there somewhere.

There will be a popular vote winner and an editor’s choice. The editor’s choice kills me every week. The lovelinked posts are getting better and better and it’s so hard for me to choose just one. Sometimes, I close my eyes and throw a dart. Okay, that’s not true. But I do sometimes feel as though I’m choosing the red wire over the green one, and we’re all gonna die in a MacGruber ball of flame.
