Okay, it’s not all that complicated.
What a whirlwind Voting Day turned out to be, eh? Did everyone survive? Still breathing? Good. Here’s the breakdown of where we go from here. It’s actually a very straight-forward process.
The scoring, popular vote:
most votes: 20 points
2nd most votes: 10 points
3rd most votes: 5 points
Congratulations, Lindsay of peek-a-berry! Your social media and gamer geek armies united for a first place showing and earned 20 points toward your final tally.
Bitches in the Burbs! You two weren’t far behind. Yay for second place and 10 points!
Do Sweat the Small Stuff! Five points ain’t chopped liver. Nobody else thought to send my husband a tweet with a direct ask for a vote, so no one else got Q’s vote but you. Very smart.
The scoring, judges’ votes:
each first place vote: 40 points
each second place vote: 20 points
each third place vote: 10 points
The hard part is over, and the harder part now begins: waiting for the judges. Among the four of them, they have 280 points to spread over 12 blogs. They will each rank their favorites in order: first (40 points), second (20 points) and third (1o points). Even if your blog didn’t earn points in the popular voting round, with just one third place showing in the judges’ round, that’s 10 points for you. Three third place showings? Thirty points. Hell, one judge’s pick for first place for a blog that didn’t earn any points at all in the popular round is 40 points. This thing is still wide open for the taking.
On Monday, the first judge will post her favorite. It will publish and auto-tweet on my usual schedule of midnight U.S. eastern daylight time [-4 GMT].
Bated breath in comments…
Congrats to the winners!
And Erica, I gotta say, you’ve done a great job with this. The traffic on my blog was unreal yesterday. 🙂
Julie, that’s exactly what I wanted to know: how has the contest affected traffic for everyone. That is wonderful to hear. Let’s hope we all keep even 25% of that new traffic by producing great content for our visitors. Good luck with the judges!
It has to be said. Ladies– my husband is a game geek. He speaks in weird “game geek” code, he has a detailed plan for evacuation in the event of a zombie apocalypse… and yes, his outpouring of husbandly support probably resulted in some free fringes traffic from rather strange places (you know, like dungeons… with dragons…). But I’ve gotta tell you all– I got such great feedback from those “gamer geeks” on all the blogs here! They actually READ them all and passed your links along to their wives to share on their mommy boards! Well deserved “publicity” for all the amazing bloggers here! And Erica, thanks so much for putting all this together. This whole experience has ALMOST been awesome enough to make me want to kiss Alison’s ass! Ok, who am I kidding? I’m puckering up as I type…
That is so exciting that your networks actually read all the entered blogs. That’s the whole point of lovelinks: introducing our tiny blogs to much wider audiences. Thanks so much to your contribution to that mission, Lindsay. Good luck with the judges!
I agree with Jaime – what a roller-coaster ride of a day! Thanks Erica for putting this together. The whole thing gave me a tummy ache but in a strange way I enjoyed it. PS: I’m v. impressed with your mathematics —> did you major in math or something in college Erica? V. impressive. (-:
Did I major in math? That is what’s called The Joke of the Day. My sweetie Q is the mathematics major and he’s the one who did all the figurin’ for the contest. I will pass along your compliment. Good luck with the judges!
This has been an exhilarating experience! I’m glad the popular vote is over—I feel like a stalker of all my FB and Twitter friends! I’ve read all of the posts, and I can’t get over the quality of the bloggers in this group. The top three winners were well-deserved.
I look forward to find out what the judges think!
Thanks for creating this competition—it’s unbelievably fun!
Thanks, thanks, thanks! I’m so glad you’re having fun with it. Good luck with the judges!
Great job to everyone this week! It was a tough call on some of these.
Congratulations to the winners of the popular vote. Good luck in the judging round.
As for us judges, it’s time to start casting our votes and breaking some hearts. Such a tough world.
It was a very tough call. Thanks sooooo much for judging, Carina! I’m looking forward to your post next week.
Congrats to the first round winners!
And happy kissin’ judges’ asses from now….
Thanks for reading and voting, kiddothings! And for being a very faithful lovelinker!
Ok, I just left you a very heartfelt comment, and turned out I was on the wrong page. Story of my life.
Anyhoo, you can always click the page before this one to see it, right?
To Q: As I tweeted before, you are my Q to James Bond’s M. My F troll. I am your humble servant.
To Erica: OK, I’ll take the 5 points. Although I like 20 or 10 better. And thanks for forgiving me for calling your hubb an effin’ troll. That has got to be just about the best compliment a contestant ever say to the judges, right?
To Alison: What are you talking about? I kiss your ass every.single.day. In fact, I have your ass printed on my face. Can’t you tell? LOL
I read your heartfelt comment, and I heart feel you right back. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you these past few weeks. Good luck with the judges!
All I want to know is – how come none of the participants have tried to kiss my ass yet?
Joking.
I’m above bribery.
I think.
Alison I’d kiss your *ss but I’m going over to your blog now to see your A Warm Welcome vlog! (-;
*mwah*
Oh that this was a wicked ride of a day! As always, thank you Free Fringes, for the adventure! Here’s to Monday and the Tuesday and all the days after that!
Jamie, it was crazy, but in a fun way. Good luck with the judges!
