Way back when I was but a wee blogger [2006], there was always a pervasive paranoia about the drop in blog traffic that happened toward the end of the summer months.
It seems silly now, especially once bloggers realized that shit happened offline where the real people hung out: getting ready to send kids back to school, getting back to the grad school grind, wrapping up summer vacations—all of it pulled readers away from that cliffhanger involving the next-door neighbor’s cat and the blogger’s recyclables.
Then, of course, came Facebook, then Twitter, and all of the other social Internet distractions. August on a blog has become August in downtown Detroit: no one around but panhandlers and the occasional chickenhead.
Oh, and lovelinks. Because writing and reading the good stuff is always in season.
Lovelinks #20 is open. Please join us.

I agree, and usually fill the cyber silence with assumptions and self-doubt. It’s lovely. But at least you’re still around 🙂
It’s been very quiet on my blog too. But then I really haven’t written anything particularly interesting, well except my review of the Showtime series “Gigolos”. Everything else has been “blah”. Now, if “Lovelinks 20” is open, where are the submissions? I don’t see any.
Linda, can you try another browser? There are five blogs submitted. Let me know if you still can’t see them after trying Explorer or Firefox. Thanks!
I was just thinking the same thing, especially this past weekend, it was so quiet!!
