Yay 13!
Jon Alex was born on Friday the 13th in July 10 years ago next week, so I’m all sentimental about the number. It seems fitting that as I was planning lovelinks #13, Jon Alex was busy getting lost in our neighborhood trying to walk to his friend Ryan’s house who, please let me add, does not live within walking distance. We are without a car in the moment, so I was out on Jordan’s bike (mine is on flat tires in the garage because I am just that much of a cyclist) looking for my boy while trying not to panic. He’d been gone more than an hour and we’d ordered sushi.
I called Ryan’s mom and asked if she had JA and of course she didn’t because why would he call first to say he was on his way and why would he tell his own mother of his plans before leaving on his journey in 100 degree heat with no shoes on? Ryan’s dad hopped in his car and, being the smart dad, looked for Jon Alex on the main neighborhood street first before zipping through the side streets. Found him 10 minutes later. Walking back home, no shoes, no phone, no sense of direction to get to Ryan’s house in the first place.
As I was making my way home to call the sheriff’s department, before I got the found him phone call, I was doing two things: mentally searching the Internet for a counselor who specialized in sexually abused boys—I figured Jon Alex would need one after he was discovered barely conscious but alive in the nearby woods (we don’t live near any wooded areas)—and running through my blogging Rolodex wondering who would take over lovelinks while Mel Gibson and Danny Glover interviewed me and collected evidence from JA’s bedroom as they prepared a dogged police search for my missing child.
The Lifetime Movie Network saga ended as Jon Alex was escorted home in a big ol’ black Hummer with Ryan’s dad delivering the climatic line: I believe I have someone who belongs to you. As the credits rolled, my boy and I walked inside, grabbed our Asian diner delivery that had been waiting for us on the kitchen counter, then watched Ehren’s Care Bears movie for the 18th time in 36 hours. And I wrote my lovelinks post as usual, no guest host required.
Lovelinks #13 is open for submissions voting.
I am so glad he got home safe, sound and not melted. Kids! Gotta love ’em. Can’t shoot ’em. Well, actually you can, but there may be consequences we don’t want. I panic over a “gone” kid too. There are unfortunately a lot of dangers out there.
He’s no longer allowed to leave the block. Yes, I’ve become one of “those” parents.

I’m with Erica…how come he didn’t have his shoes on?!?
Lol. glad he’s safe and sound.
Crazy boy. But I was just like him as a kid, so I usually know where he’s coming from—nutsville. Thanks for visiting!

Your family is adorable! Visiting from #commenthour.
Aw, thanks! I can’t believe I missed being selected for #commenthour. We were traveling for two days. Thanks for stopping by!

Glad all is well that ends well. Who would play you in these dramatic Hollywood account of your afternoon?
OK, I might get disqualified for this but I must shout it out laud for the world to know: I LOVED KIDDOTHINGS POST!! I liked all of them but that one cracked me up big time.
Stasha, that’s such a great question. I’m thinking some unknown, but very cute and together, actress would play me. I’ll start casting right way.
You can’t get disqualified for telling who you voted for! I’m sure kiddothings appreciates it.
I’m so glad he is alright! There is nothing scarier. My middle one pulled something similar when she was 4 and I about had a stroke.
I think I did have a stroke. I’m now paralyzed from letting him leave our street.

Suddenly picked up two paying jobs so am soooo busy, but couldn’t miss lovelinks and will do my best to visit all and vote too! Thanks for putting it all together.
Oh, I know from busy these days. I don’t think it’s ever taken me two days to answer a comment. Thanks for participating and yay for paying jobs!

Honey, I’ve been down the Coast for a few days. I’m so glad Alex is fine. How scary a situation. I need to backtrack here to figure it all out.
I’m so glad you’re all caught up! You’re better than me. I’m just now answering comments from three years ago!

That must’ve been traumatising for you! I don’t know what I’d do if my kid went missing for just 10 minutes. I’m glad he’s safe. Why didn’t he have his shoes on?
Why didn’t he have his shoes on? Million dollar question.

Phew! Close one. OMG I would have just fallen apart. Scary. Then I would murder my kids for putting me through that LOL. Either way I would end up in jail it seems.
I can’t even imagine the ones that are “missing” for three or four hours then are “found” at a friend’s playing video games. I probably would have killed him on sight once he was dropped off at home.
Thanks for linking up!

Yay lovelinks!
Omigosh, so glad Jon Alex is safe and sound. He shares his birthday with my dear sister! She is 23 years older though (wow that makes me feel old, seeing as I’m older than her).
For some reason, my image is not appearing in the link I submitted. I will retry.
Third time was the charm for your image appearing. Glad it finally worked.
July 13 is obviously THE birthday for awesome people. And, yeah, omigosh, I’m glad he made it home safely. Thanks.
