Greetings, Earthlings!

Hello! Hi! It’s great to see you.

Did you come by looking for the microstory challenge? Well, we’re shaking things up a little here at yeah write, and this means–among other things–that we’re no longer hosting a separate microstory challenge.

“But I love microstories!” you say. I hear you–I do too! Just remember, microstories (drabbles, nanofiction, micro narratives) as a genre are welcome on both the nonfiction and fiction|poetry grids, where the upper word limits are just that: upper limits. We may not give you an ultimate question, but you should feel free to take inspiration from the monthly writing help features or the weekly fiction|poetry prompt up. Set your own word limit goal. Maybe you like 42 words, but maybe 50 works better for you, or 100. Or 33. You don’t need us to provide the boundaries. Still at a loss without a prompt? We have a few words to say about finding inspiration and creating your own prompts.

As an added bonus, the nonfiction and fiction|poetry grids are now unmoderated! One caveat: this doesn’t mean we don’t expect your best work. Proofread, proofread, proofread, and above all, follow the submission guidelines. Both grids close at 10:00 PM Eastern time on Wednesdays, and voting will start immediately thereafter. Popular vote winners and editors’ picks will be announced on Fridays by noon.

Finally, stay tuned for some new features coming to yeah write this summer. You’re gonna love ’em!

Questions? Hop on over to the coffeehouse and pull up a chair. We’re all about the iced lattes and chocolate croissants. Don’t feel like company? Email us at getsocial@yeahwrite.me.
