HomeSam is a trusts and estates lawyer who also runs and devours pop culture. She is currently living in the suburbs of New York City after spending seven years on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Sam didn’t always hail from the Big Apple though. Her home will always be Pittsburgh, PA, where she was born and raised.

Some of my earliest memories are of sitting with my dad in front of a Steelers football game, and him saying things to me like, “the team has 4 tries to go 10 yards,” and other such things, so all of us are massive Steelers fans and basically bleed black and gold.

I thought we were going to be great friends until I found out she was a Steelers fan.

Just jokes, Sam. I promise.

When she’s not watching football or battling the legal world, there are two things that consume Sam’s time.

I drag myself out of bed to run and exercise as the sun comes up because if I don’t do it then it’ll never get done, and it absolutely has to get done. I keep thinking that one of these days it’ll get easier, but strangely, it never does.

That does not bode well for my future marathon plans. Sam is also a TV addict. I can get on board with that. Luckily, she’s married to one too. They tend to spend their nights on the couch watching show after show throughout the entire year. They are champion binge watchers as well.

Some of our finest hours have been at 2:00 in the morning, propping our eyelids open with toothpicks as we breathlessly say “just one more episode.”

Husband & SistersSpeaking of her husband, according to Sam, he’s a “super hero loving, robot building, brilliant entrepreneur and tech genius, blond haired, blue-eyed sensitive soul who loves family, home, and pizza.”

Sounds like a great guy to me! Sam also has a wonderful family:

My family – 2 sisters who are the missing pieces of myself, a nephew and 2 nieces I smother with love whenever possible, parents I aspire to be, and sundry aunts, uncles and cousins. A big, loud, sometimes crazy, but fiercely loyal and loving family.

Sam has it pretty good, if you ask me. Make sure you check out her blog, This Heart of Mine. And in case you need to know more, here are five things you didn’t know about Sam:

  1. She loves french fries beyond what is normally considered reasonable. She could eat them for every meal, every day, and never get tired of them.
  2. She was speaking in complete sentences when she was just over a year old. She was like some kind of mutant child. Her mom says strangers used to come up to the stroller and speak to Sam in baby voices and she used to answer them, talking like a 12 year old. It totally freaked them out.
  3. She absolutely loves country music. Zac Brown Band, The Band Perry, and old school Dixie Chicks are her faves.
  4. The biggest accomplishment in her 31 years was memorizing all the lyrics to La Vie Boheme from Rent. Seriously, she was prouder of that then she was on the day she graduated from law school.
  5. She didn’t understand a single part of any of the following movies: Inception, Minority Report, The Matrix. She considers herself to be pretty intelligent, but seriously, what the hell was happening there?
