Welcome to the fiction and poetry challenge at yeah write
This week’s ultimate question reminds me of the first lightbulb I had in a creative writing course. I was assigned to read Poemcrazy: Freeing Your Life with Words by Susan Goldsmith Wooldridge. In it, she writes:
“It’s hard to write a poem about a place, an experience or even a state of mind without fully being there. When I’m fully present describing a place in a poem it helps bring my reader there too.”
Oh, yeah. Writing is traveling.
Our seat backs and our tray tables are in their fully upright positions. Our suitcases are stored securely above our heads. We’re ready for you to take us somewhere! If you need a nudge to get your story or poem started this week, our optional prompt is:
Why do you go away?
This optional prompt is to serve as your inspiration for your fiction or poetry. Use the question, word for word, in your story or poem, or just answer the question. Already have your own story thought up? No problem! The prompt is only there if you need it.
