This fun link up is being hosted by Stasha over at Monday Listicles on behalf of a lovely group of lovelinks regulars: Ado, Julie, Mommy2Cents, Deborah and Jamie.
Please join in with stories of your high school days and don’t forget the pictures!
I rushed to my mom’s to grab my photo album, and I was so excited that she’s been scanning all her kids’ pictures, so wow that would save me a lot of trouble just in time for BITB.
It turns out my mother is as vain as I am, and she’d only included her favorites on the CD she gave me. Guess what: her favorites included three whole pictures of me from high school, giving you a bit of a clue how horrible those days were for me. Not to get all angsty on you, but I’d rather be a 43-year-old failed writer living in a cookie cutter American suburb than spend another day in 1985.
Anyway, here’s me before I figured out what to do with my hair, before I ever had a boyfriend and 10 years before my own high schooler was born.
Good grief.
Lovelinks #30 opens tomorrow…
These pics are awesome! You should perhaps posted some of your mom’s, so that next time she is less narcissist? LOL
Your hair looks good… you should have seen mine. Ack! I definitely have one of those wicker chair photos around here somewhere, too. LOL!
The hair is AWESOME! Such a cutie, you were! 🙂
I have a theory: I think that as we become more comfortable with ourselves our hair becomes less tortured (and tortuous). So: mellow hair equals zen-ish self; lots of processing & product? Get thyself a therapist or some nice little pills. Just a thought. You were wicked cute, by the way.
Your hair is a thing of beauty.
You totally have a “picture smile” though. Especially in that wicker chair. Like, “Hurry the eff up and take the picture already.”
Imagonna guess that third beauty with the wicker chair is from a familiar place called Olan Mills?! Yeah?!?
You are the greatest!
I think I scanned fewer than 3 pictures of my own high school days. Now I sorta wish I’d done more, just for the comedy factor alone. But at the end of the day, I’m just too vain.
LOL! I love the hair! If it makes you feel any better, mine wasn’t much better. I still have quite the crazy mane! Not surprising since I have naturally curly hair. Like in HS, 99.9% of the time it’s balled up on the top of my head.
Sure it was balled up, but was it secured with a scrunchie?!
Ah the requisite wicker chair! I used to work in a photo studio – love that chair. 😉
I would totally go back to 1985. I loved kindergarten and nap time!
Your mom seems like a real gem, scanning these pics. That last one, in the wicker chair, perfection!
I think your do is cute! Looks like you and I were in high school the same years! I had a good experience in H.S., thankfully. I really loved those years. To the point where I wonder if I dwell on them too much? That song “1985” by Bowling for Soup is running through my head now…
You crack me up! Between my shaved head and your fringe we would make a great team. Great topic, thanks you girls!
Love the pictures! My mom and dad just didn’t take many pictures of us at all, it seems, so I only have official pictures like regular school pictures, sports pictures and dance pictures. But that’s okay. And I wouldn’t want to spend another day as a high school student, but it’s fun to look back sometimes.
OH. MY. GOD!
I love you!!!
You are ADORABLE! “Here’s me before I figured out what to do with my hair…”!!!
Whole thing made me SMILE.
I can’t believe your mom only scanned in 3 pix of your high school years! (However that’s 3 more than my mom would’ve scanned in or even taken. I guess it was a different, less papparazzi-oriented parenting gen then huh?)
I loved your comment on how you’d rather be a 43 year old living in the burbs than spend a single day in 1985! Ha!
Yes…oh, the angst.
I didn’t post my bad hair photo (couldn’t find it, actually – tried!) – but before I figured out that a.) Dorothy Hammill hairdos do not suit people w. curly hair and/or attract the boys, and b.) Dorothy Hammill hair dos on high schoolers is nerdy….boy was I nerdy. Then I grew my hair and it went much better.
(-:
Your mom’s great for scanning old pictures. I think I need to start doing that. The hair…hmm…I wouldn’t say ‘good grief’, I’d say ‘Wow.” 😉
