The grid is closed to new submissions, but there is always time to read new-to-you blogs and become part of our community while you wait for editors’ votes to start showing up beneath each thumbnail.
We are scoring each entry based on a standard spreadsheet. As the editors email me their scores, I will add them as “votes” beneath the thumbnails. It’ll say “votes” but please translate that as “scores”. As we bate our breath, the thumbnails will be sorted in order of most page views to least so far. As the tallies change, so will the grid order.
You wanna vote this week? You’ve got four hours
Grab a copy of the scoring spreadsheet, fill it out and email Erica M your completed version by 8 p.m. US eastern tonight. We’ve had readers filling out the vote-o-rama tracker since Tuesday, and I already have some waiting to be opened in my mailbox. If you have a quiet space for reading and spreadsheeting, you can be a part of the fun.

- You don’t have to be on the grid this week to vote with your spreadsheet. This is a great way to practice becoming a more critical reader. Go for it
- Your completed spreadsheet may or may not be shared with the regular yeah write editors, but it definitely will not be shared with anyone else, so your votes will remain anonymous
- Fill it out completely, notes included. If there are missing fields such as scores for a particular blog (including your own), I won’t be able to use it
- I’ll add your scores to the the thumbnail tallies

Comment karma
We are not comment grubbers, far from it. Yeah write has always valued quality over quantity. However, encouraging everyone to lay hands on each entry works as a reward for those who worked so hard to get published on the grid in the first place. That “your yeah write submission” email from Flood is no fun, but it is very helpful, and we admire those who rework their entries based on her suggestions or just plain old start over. Leaving a comment recognizes the hard work everyone put in to get here.

We’ve become such a small circle of readers and writers, quality over quantity, and that’s just the way we like it. Beginning next week, instead of waiting until we hit 50 on the grid, we’re going to kick off our cumulative point writing challenge for a $100 Amazon gift card to be used for writer’s materials: books, music, socks, whatever it is you need for a day of good writing.
