Are you yeah write old school? Welcome back!

Family-free month is making me happy. You can bring back your family in October if you want, but why? You can’t tell me your creativity wasn’t all like: Where ya been? Glad to see you. Let’s write about something anything other than the first day of school, shall we?

Don’t forget your “so what”

A good question to ask yourself before submitting your post to the grid is: if people were completely honest when leaving comments, would they say:

“”This very same thing happens to me every single week without consequence; I’m not quite sure why it needed an entire blog post.”

Or would they say:

“”This very same thing happens to me every single week without consequence, yet you wordsmithed the hell out of it, nailed the central conflict, and I’m ashamed of how boring my tale of climbing the Himalayas wearing nothing but pink stilettos sounded to my readers.”

So what, guys, so what. You need one.

The return of comment karma

Comment thoughtfully on each post on the grid and earn yourself a comment karma badge, whether you’ve published something this week or not. Readers can earn comment karma, too, you know.

When the grid gets back to 50 published entries, we’re offering one writer a $100 Amazon gift card

Once we get back to a full grid of 50 published submissions, we will kick off a four-week challenge for the blogger with the most accumulated points to earn a $100 Amazon gift card which I would recommend go toward the purchase of these 10 books suggested in this Brain Pickings article How to Read Like a Writer. We’ll get there with or without you. May as well be with you ‘cuz you’re witty and can tell a pretty good story.

We want the story the furthest away in your imagination from the original prompt. Let your imagination loose.
Keep your writing style! Do you tell stories with humor? Prose? Verse? Photos? Illustrations? Keep doing that.
