No virgins on the challenge grid this week?

We love virgins here at yeah write. I wonder what happened? Bring us one next week, okay?

If someone subscribes to the weekly email blast at your recommendation and gets published on the yeah write #73 challenge grid, the editors will toss your name into a jaunty fedora among others who do the same. Before the yeah write #73 winners’ post, we’ll draw the name of a winner and both that person and the guest will win a copy of Microstyle: The Art of Writing Little published by W.W. Norton, one of our challenge grid sponsors.

Open to U.S. residents only unless one of the random winners is willing to pay international postage.

The yeah write virgin must be new to the “yeah write is open” list as of today or by 9/6/2012 without being a current or former subscriber or, god forbid, having ever marked  a yeah write email as spam. The person recommending the virgin must be a current subscriber to the “yeah write is open” list as of 9/6/2012 or any date before the virgin subscribes.

Hypnobirthing I Failed You by Maria Guido of Guerilla Mom

There were a ton of excellent submissions this week, and I went back and forth on several when trying to choose one for my editor’s pick. I finally decided to go with my entertainment gut and choose Maria at Guerrilla Mom’s Hypnobirthing. I Failed You. This post detailed an evolution from idealist to realist that most parents go through in a wide variety of ways. My favorite section was the author’s realization that Yes! She could move her hand: “Yes, I am aware of my hand. I am aware that it has no problem moving. What the hell?” Despite a scarcity of specific detail, the author’s voice created an easily recognizable scene. I also liked that, despite the gentle teasing tone, there wasn’t an utter condemnation of a method that didn’t work for her. The last line in the piece makes sure of it.

Congrats, Maria! Please feel free to click then download this custom photo by Flood to display on your blog.

Flawless by Steph of People Do Things with Their Lives

““I hope you have the best day ever.”

Three women at three different stages of their lives, each hopeful and supportive of the other whether they knew it or not, meant it to be or not. Stephanie’s winning post was a heartwarming embrace, a warm cheek-to-cheek, for her readers.

Congrats, Steph, on your yeah write crowd favorite win. Your custom photo from Flood:

Win-Win

The thumbnails are now sorted in the grid from most yellow star votes to the least. The top row five badges will return the first challenge week we fill the grid with 50 bloggers. For this week, because the grid had 25 entries, the array highlights the top row three. Oh and don’t forget, the week we return to 50 bloggers will begin a four-week challenge to earn a $100 Amazon gift card for writing materials and inspiration.

In the case of a tie, the thumbnails are additionally sorted by page views. Do not be discouraged if your blog has landed near the bottom of the grid; it is always a tight race. The fun lies in getting better exposure for your blog and in the spirit of competition as incentive to improve your writing and blogging skills. It’s a win-win for everybody involved.

Thanks again, everybody, for linking up, for reading, for voting. And for making yeah write the most welcoming spot on the Interwebs for writers who blog and bloggers who write.

Yeah write #73 opens Tuesday. Bring your virgins and your best stuff. Until then, please stop by Flood’s speakeasy for even more posts to read and enjoy.
