Day one of 31 days to build a better blog at yeah write starts tomorrow! A few steps to get ready:

1 Add the homepage of your blog to the growing list below

We’ll need to know you’re with us so we can be that cool side of the pillow exactly when you need it. You can also read the 31dbbb page for additional details.

2 Install a stats tracker on your blog

It’s a good way to know how your readers are responding to each improvement to your blog along the way. Are they staying to read? Are they jumping ship in the first 30 seconds? What search engine terms are they using to find you? Day 29 of 31dbbb will explore the topic of blog statistics more fully and you should have a few weeks of data on hand to join in the discussion.

Yeah write recommends Google Analytics and Clicky.

You can install either one, both or another one of your choosing.

3 Grab your #31dbbb badge from our sidebar

31dbbb

You can install it in your sidebar or at the bottom of each #31dbbb post. It’s just one other way to identify your blog as part of the yeah write 31dbbb community.

4 Grab a copy of the 31dbbb workbook

We’ll be reading the workbook aloud as you read along silently, so no worries if you don’t have the text, but you’ll get the most out of the daily lessons if you have your own copy.

5 Writing for Tuesday’s regular yeah write challenge grid? Write a list post, a personal essay or a traditional blog anecdote

We’ll still be hosting our regular challenge grid and, if we get to 30 or more entries, the invitational grid and editors’ picks. We’ll make it simple: if you’re blogging for 31dbbb and you want to compete in the challenge, you can submit Tuesday’s “write a list post” to the challenge. If you’re not doing 31dbbb and you’re just here for your weekly yeah write fix, you can stick within our personal essay or traditional blog anecdote submission guidelines.

challenge116

Here are the upcoming Tuesday posts so you can be prepared for the challenges. None of them sound appealing to you for a challenge grid post? Then go with the personal essay or traditional blog anecdote. Whatever you decide, it’s still 500 words plus 100 words grace, and the yeah write #116 badge is in the sidebar.

Woot, woot – I’ve done all of the above (um, with the exception of No. 5), I haven’t participated in your weekly challenge (yet).

    Thank you for hosting!

    • Erica M

      Let’s do this thang.

  • Michelle Longo

I might have just installed Google Analytics. It’s unclear. Blogger stats don’t really give me any useful data, but at least I understand them :-/

    • Erica M

Lemme see if we can put out a call for a Blogger user who also tracks by GA to help you figure everything out.

  • Laura @ Close Families

    Lol @ Stacie & Erica 🙂
I’m so excited for 31dbbb! Just the kick in the rear I’ve needed to get out of my blogging schlump. Committed to giving everyone my best effort all month long! (It helps that summer school and baseball are over!) Can’t wait to read some awesome stuff.

  • Stacie

Aha! Even I might be able to find time to submit a list post 😉

    • Erica M

Whatever you can do, we’ll appreciate. I feel a 10 things I don’t know what I was thinking when I agreed to get this puppy list coming on.

      • Stacie

We are picking her up tomorrow around 1pm. I’m sure I’ll have that list already (in my head) by the time I go to bed!
