No invitational, but some amazing writing

Thanks to everyone who comes out week after week with their best stuff. Even though we didn’t hit the 30 post mark needed to open the editors’ invitational grid, this week in yeah write saw some top notch writing in humor, memoir and anecdotes about the daily grind.

Crowd favorite

“Talking is Overrated” by Michelle Longo at The Journey

Michelle takes the top spot this week with a hard-to-read piece about estrangement from her father on one of the biggest days of her life: her wedding. Saying as much as it leaves out, the post is a vessel for pain and lost opportunities for reconciliation. We don’t need to know what the restraining order was about. We don’t need to know the reasons her father walked away. We know enough because, in line after line of unembellished prose and unassuming dialogue, Michelle lays out before us her fantasy of the perfect reunion and the reality of a relationship that probably will never be. We ache for her. Michelle, please grab your well-earned winner’s badge from the sidebar.

Congrats also to the rest of the top row five: Linda, Karen, Misty, and Janelle. You earned badges, too! Go get ’em in the sidebar.

BlogHer’s NaBloMoPo at yeah write starts Nov. 1

Just a few more days before the yeah write NaBloPoMo grid opens. Will you be joining us for moral support and an incredibly good time blogging for 30 days straight? Keep an eye on this space for good writing, cool perk packages and fellowship with family and friends. Seven more days…

Win-win

The thumbnails are now sorted in the grid from most votes to the least. In the case of a tie, the thumbnails are additionally sorted by page views.

Do not be discouraged if your blog has landed near the bottom of the grid; especially if it was a tight race. The fun lies in getting better exposure for your blog and, in the spirit of competition, an incentive to improve your writing and blogging skills. It’s a win-win for everybody involved.

Thanks again, everybody, for submitting, for reading, for accepting the weekly writing challenge. And for making yeah write the most welcoming spot on the Interwebs for writers who blog and bloggers who write.

Don’t leave us yet…

Please use the comment section for congratulations to the winners and/or encouragement for everyone else who competed in the challenge this week. If your favorites weren’t at the top of the grid, let them know you loved their posts and why. And keep coming back.

Yeah write #133 weekly writing challenge opens Tuesday…
