Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?

It seems like most people know if they are procrastinators or not. It also seems like that should be pretty easy to determine, right? I’m not sure what camp I’m in. I like to think I get stuff done timely and I don’t avoid doing what needs to be done. Yet somehow I’m always doing things last minute, rushing to make a deadline or to meet expectations.

For me, I think I always underestimate the amount of time something will take and so I do other things first thinking I have plenty of time only to find that I don’t have enough time at all. For example, I might spend an entire day working on a project that legitimately needs doing and then rushing to finish the nonfiction challenge opening post. This is, of course, a hypothetical situation. This post was completely written with plenty of time to sit around waiting to be published.

How about for you? Do you know that the nonfiction challenge grid opens at 12:01 Monday EST (or EDT, whichever we’re in right now) and then wait until Wednesday, right before the grid closes, to start your post?

No, you wouldn’t do that. You’re writing your post well in advance so that you can take plenty of time to let it rest, read it aloud, edit, then edit some more. You’re not rushing through to get something published. You’re thoughtfully preparing to submit your very best work.

You’d never wait until the last minute, right? Yeah, me either.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

What did it taste like?

This optional prompt, which also serves as the ultimate question for the microstory challenge opening Wednesday, is here to serve as your inspiration for your nonfiction submission. Already have your own story thought up? No problem! The prompt is only there if you need it.
