It’s the weekend, so the moonshine grid is open
As a teacher, the beginning of the Fall semester is a magical one, full of the smells of crisp autumn leaves, newly bound textbooks, and a feeling of relief as we settle into a new routine.
I’m the master of the Last Minute. I specialize in 7 minute sonnets, 24 hour thesis papers (j/k it was at least 32 and I was awake for all of them) and 11-hour-10,000-word stints on the novel. With all these considerations, honestly, my writing should probably suck more than it does. What’s the secret?
I’m sure you’ve heard the news: yeah write is coming to Long Beach Comic Con. We are thrilled to pieces about this trip. We’ll be there among the cosplayers and fans doing what we do best–promoting storytelling. We’re hosting a panel on the subject, we’ll be having a contest on site, and of course, in yeah write fashion, there will be prizes. If you’re in the area, we hope you can make it!
We’re so glad you stopped by our little weekend community. What we do here is loosen our expectations a bit so we can have some fun. That means that 1,500 word story you wrote on butterflies? It’s welcome here. A poem you’ve been fine-tuning? Also welcome here. That post from 2004 about the fracas surrounding the presidential election? Yep, welcome here too. The only type of post not welcome? Commercial or sponsored posts. Otherwise, bring us whatever you like.
Please remember to visit other posts on the grid and share in the community here! That’s what makes yeah write the place to be.
Over in the left sidebar is a list of yeah write badges containing the codes you need to satisfy the backlink requirement (also called a permalink) of the Inlinkz app. The badge for the moonshine looks like this:
Under the badge is a few lines of code. See that? Copy it exactly then paste it into the “text” or HTML view of your post editor. If you don’t copy it exactly, you will get an error message from the Inlinkz app. If you get confused or your browser is uncooperative, visit the Inlinkz step-by-step instructions here. If all else fails, contact Inlinkz customer support.
Did you hear? It’s all over the news. Yeah write is going to be at Long Beach Comic Con, and we are so thrilled! We’re hosting an onsite microstory contest, a panel discussion on digital storytelling, and basically just being awesome, as per usual. In fact, we’re giving away tickets to the con, and you have until midnight Saturday to enter the drawing.
August is my least favorite month of the year. By now, the sweltering summer heat has killed off whatever was left of the California greenery, and it feels like we’ve been living in a pressure cooker for the past few months. School is about to start, so all the prep work a teacher must do starts being impossible to put off. Time accelerates, and the to-do list just seems to get longer. Right about mid-August, I start wishing it was September already.
Have you ever tried to design a room on IKEA’s website? They have an interactive app that allows you to determine that the sink will look better under the window on the north wall and that no, a breakfast nook won’t fit in the corner of the room next to the bookshelf. This is helpful for someone trying to move around some major appliances without discovering too late that there isn’t enough space in the room for a dishwasher.
