Our design + karma point concept was introduced yesterday and, judging by the two reply comments and one reply tweet, it may seem overly complicated, but life is complicated, and that doesn’t stop us from lounging by the pool or buying a new TV. I’ll keep track of the karma points until everyone gets the hang of it, and I’ll never ask you to pee in a cup unless I believe it may help your writing.

Here’s a link to the design + karma calculator, suitable for framing and holiday stocking stuffers.

Here is how lovelinks voting works: everyone gets three votes. Depending on your browser, there will be a yellow star above or below each thumbnail. Click on the thumbnail to read each entry before choosing your three favorites, click on the star to vote. The page will refresh after each yellow star vote, it’s a quirk of the linkup program, and once you’ve clicked three times, the votes have registered, the stars disappear, and you’re done.

This is where the design + karma calculator comes in! If you win the popular vote, that’s four karma points for you. Since you also finished in the top ten, that’s four more points. Have you been linking up with lovelinks since the day you were born? That’s very likely another four points. For your faithfully good writing, that’s 13 points toward a new premium blog theme. Wait—that’s just 12 points, Erica. Where’d I pick up another point? Just for linking up, that’s where.

Thanks, everybody, for coming back week after week to share your best stuff with us.

Lovelinks #34 is open for voting.
