Welcome to the fiction and poetry challenge at yeah write

Seeing as it’s still National Poetry Month, I have decided to share an impromptu series of poems for you in today’s post. It is a cycle of haikus about my cat, who is an endless source of inspiration to me.

Her silky coat shines
Like the moon over water
Pet and she will bite

Razor-like claws scratch
If you dare stroke her belly
Don’t touch it, human!

In and out, again
I wonder how many times
The door will open?

Foolish humanoids
You mistake my mews for love
When I need itches

Happy National Poetry Month! Now, on to the ultimate question:

How fast were you going?

This optional prompt is to serve as your inspiration for your fiction or poetry. Use the question, word for word, in your story or poem, or just answer the question. Don’t forget the flux capacitor if you’re in the DeLorean. Already have your own story thought up? No problem! The prompt is only there if you need it.

Focus on fiction

We’re always thinking of ways to keep you inspired, and as it’s National Poetry Month, we wanted to make sure we kept up with our poetry slams. For this month, we’re trying out the dróttkvætt (don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds). However, we’re also beefing up our fiction corner, too. For our first-ever series on fiction,  we’re inviting you to give historical fiction a try. Both are completely optional, but we hope to see you participate in the fun.
