Happy Tuesday, everybody!
If this is your first time here, welcome! Please take a moment to read the yeah write FAQ and the guide to writing a winning yeah write post. Even if you’re not here necessarily for the competition portion of our program, the second link is also designed as a guide to writing a pretty good blog post. I’d love for you to read them both before linking up so you’ll know what you’re getting yourself into. Then grab a button from the sidebar—it contains the code you’ll need to add to your post before clicking the blue button to submit it. We’re glad you’re here.
If you’re returning to yeah write for the second or third time, welcome back! I’m glad you had enough fun with us the first time around to bring you here once again. Just in case you missed it, yeah write can be found on Twitter @yhwriteme even though I occasionally use my @freefringes account to get the word out to a larger group of followers.
For you old heads: I acknowledge how much of a challenge it can be to read and fully participate in the yeah write process with 75 blogs on the grid. This is why it’s called a writing challenge. Because it challenges you. It starts Tuesday and ends Thursday and, like the Boston marathon, comes complete with heart palpitations and the need for constant hydration.
Do your best to hit all the blogs so you’ll know who to vote for on Thursday. Don’t kill yourself to do it, but neither should you blow us off if you’ve taken a spot on the grid. Taking into consideration a healthy home-life-work-blog balance, some weeks just will not be your week to link up. I say this not out of crankiness, but out of realism mixed with a side salad of talking lollipop donkey pants. We will always love readers, commenters and voters who are not on the grid, yet who are enthusiastically participating in the yeah write awesomeness.
Sometimes, I have to give periodic reminders for certain guidelines that may get lost in the excitement shuffle. Bear with if you know these by heart or if you have them tattooed on your left thigh. Please take good notes if you do not (your tattoo artist will appreciate them)
- You must have a link to today’s post already inserted into the link you’re planning to add to the grid before you try to submit it. This backlink can either be the permalink to this post or a coded super cool button badge found in the sidebar of the post
- The grid is limited to 75 spots. If the post you’re planning to link has already been linked to several other blog events, please consider linking with us an original post
- Add personal posts only, please: no commercial, giveaway, sponsored or otherwise promotional posts are allowed on the grid. Never ever link to your own linkup
- If you keep getting error messages and your post is coded correctly, please send a help tweet @inlinkz and Aris will be happy to help you figure out what’s going on. Why you guys insist on running into problems after I’ve gone to sleep for the night, I’ll never know
- Please tell us a story in your yeah write post. Whether funny or tear-jerky told with words and/or photos, please give us a beginning, middle and end with a central conflict that is resolved before the story ends. Be mindful of your rhythm, pace and tone, and keep it simple—superfluous adjectives and adverbs are the devil’s handiwork
- Bring us your best stuff. Check out the past few winners’ posts for excellent examples. To become a better writer is to become a prolific reader, and we’ve got plenty of good reads just for you
Yeah write #53 is open. Welcome to Year Two.
I was an idiot not to have started participating earlier, but that ends now. Well, maybe not my general craziness but the not participating idiocy, yeah that is over.
I love how yeah write has blossomed. LOVE.
I love that as well. It means I get to read more excellent blog posts. I have a feeling we could hit 100, but I don’t know that I’d find time to read so many blog posts. 50 was a lot, and now 75 could be a challenge unless you start early (or have all of Thursday to read and comment).
I love the idea of getting to know so many people with a few clicks on the mouse. I read you all and I feel you all! xx
I’m only halfway through the entries and I have already picked out seven that I really liked and deserve a vote. What a strong week!
Holy Shit Erica, it’s only 8:54 EST on Tuesday and I’m post 70! WOW! Got a pretty little thing going on here.
Umm, [placing embarrassed face down on the table] – now I see me at the top. Guess I was checking the wrong place. Oops!!! Sorry for all the emails, Erica. Next time I’ll know….
No worries. It happens to the best of us. Have fun this week!
Well, Erica says I’m up as #67 even though I can’t see it for some reason. LOL! First time participating…
I tried leaving a comment for: http://kendratoo.com/comedians-scare-me/ but there was a broken link somewhere in the process of doing that… oh well! Not sure if she knows about it?!
Thanks for adding me again this week! Love the Yeah Write thang, meeting some great writers! Looking forward to reading and commenting!
Just found this site today and am already discovering many great writers/blogs through the link-ups.
In case anyone’s reading this – I give up on WordPress.com authentication. I wish it would just go away. I log in through Twitter which unfortunately causes the owner of the site to go the extra step if they want to find the commenter’s post. Of course it can be found on the grid, I realize. But I like to click through from the comment. Can’t that be turned off by the owners? I’ll take Captcha any day.
Me too, Stephanie! And blogger’s been bad about eating my comments lately. It’s like the Universe doesn’t want me to comment. You won’t win this battle, Universe. I’m one stubborn lady!!
I haven’t been here in so long. I miss you guys! OH MY GOSH THERE ARE SO MANY BLOGGERS LINKED UP! How exciting!
Sorry for the double post, and thanks for deleting it, Erica! The hubby linked me up this morning while I was trying to straighten the horse’s tale I call my hair. He got an error the first time around and didn’t realize it had posted.
Anyway, my bad, and I look forward to reading yeah write #53!
PS – y’all check out my new blog banner. The image is courtesy of Flood, and it’s beautiful!
After three error messages and kicking me off the page, my post is now posted twice. So sorry! They are both the exact same. AHHH! Stupid technology! 😛 Happy Tuesday!
I accidentally posted my link twice. Sorry about that!
okay, I have a LOT of work to do right now, and yet here is yeahwrite, already chockablock full of funny, powerful, moving, eloquent stuff to read. Harumph. How is a gal supposed to get anything done, that’s what I want to know? I want also to know how I get one of stephanie’s robots for my blog page because man o man do I loves me some clay baboons.
You can get one in my sidebar! 🙂
I kind of get giddy every time I see my robot on anyone else’s blog. Thanks for linking to him! He’s a little bit less sad every time someone spreads the word. Ha! I’m very happy to be linking up with Yeah Write for the second week…I’m still new here, but it really is a fantastic writing community. <3
So happy to be starting out Year Two with you!
So glad to be a part of the year 2 kickoff. Keep up the great work, Erica!
Remember the 2007 New England Patriots season? They finished the regular season undefeated and then ended up losing the Super Bowl. I kept wishing that season that they would just go and lose one. It was bound to happen, right? All streaks must end at some point, right? Anyway… I ended my streak here last week. It felt weird. But the pressure is gone. I like what I have to share this week.
Who Dey.
Just when you thought it was safe…I’m back and I’m talking BUSH!
Thank you so much for hosting!
