Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy third biiiiiirthday, my dear sweet Tasmanian Devil baby boy Ehren, happy birthday to yoooouuuuuuu!

Virgins!

Ten virgins on the grid this week, and what an intro it was for you guys! Sixty-seven blogs is the most blogs we’ve ever had on the yeah write grid and, with more people than ever being determined to read each one, I hope your new visitors made it all worthwhile. Thanks for joining us!

Editor’s choice by Erica

Miranda at Becoming My Ideal really captured how off-balance we can all feel sometimes as we write, read and interact with others on the Internet. There are some days we pound our little hearts out at the keyboard, hit publish, then wait for an outpouring of support—then crickets. Then there’s the comparing our lives to everyone else’s and how do we know our own story is worth telling? We just gotta chug along in the hopes someone is reading and being affected by what we’re saying. Such a good post asking the questions we all ask ourselves, Miranda. Congrats on the win.

Lurker’s favorite by Flood

Flood writes:

This week’s win goes to Pish Posh‘s entry about sleeping, or lack thereof. I was a No Bed Kid and now I have No Bed Kid, and it’s been a big bone of contention around here. Pish remembers taking a stand and it paying off for an extra few minutes or so. Her story brought some levity to an issue that makes parents crazy. We all know that if you can’t solve a problem properly, you should find a way to laugh at it.

A note for you guys:

Congratulations to all the entrants over the past six weeks. I’ve learned a lot from everyone about travel, parenting, fashion, music and news. Mostly, I’ve learned how much we have in common. I can’t count how many times I thought, “Wow, yeah, me too!” So, I’d like to sincerely thank you guys for being thoughtful, honest and hilarious. Thank you.
Then because she’s such an awesome friend and I’m such an awesome friend, Flood writes some more. I love her:
And a special thanks to my friend Erica for hosting this party every week. Her earnestness to keep the place nice for everyone makes a great foundation for people to showcase their fanciest stuff with confidence. You guys are in good hands.

Lurker’s favorite by Q

The second way to my husband’s heart is through comfort food, and Megan at Sugar-n-Spice makes the art of comfort cooking look so easy. This week, Q chose her post which included a yummy-looking mac n’ cheese recipe, appreciating the language she used to describe the process of creating the dish. It’s been a long time since Q’s gotten to hang out with his girlfriend Megan in the winner’s circle, and I can’t wait until Q, our family chef, tries the recipe. Congrats, Megan, on the win.

Surprise guest lurker’s favorite by Whitney

Sixty-seven posts, y’all. That’s a lot of really good blogs, and I was delighted when a little birdie told me she knew of another little birdie who, although not a blogging birdie, reads every single post on the yeah write grid each week. Whitney stepped in this week with her favorite and, if we ever get more than 60 posts again, she’ll be happy to lurk again for us. I love good people.

Whitney writes:

Susan at Smushyface, Baby has my vote this week with Hidden Places. Remembering the old wood shop behind my grandparent’s house, the mongoose box my Granddaddy built for me, riding in his red Toyota to get cigarettes…reading this post, it all came back to me. Many people have a sweet spot for grandfathers, and Susan really showed hers. Thanks for sharing your story, Susan, and for painting a sweet picture of your grandfather for us.

Congrats, Susan, on the lurker’s favorite. Whitney’s choice doesn’t count toward the final points in our contest since hers was a last second addition, but, yep, the lurker’s favorite badge is all yours if you want it.

Popular vote winner

Mayor Gia wins the yeah write popular vote for the second time with another hilarious post, this time about a few co-workers we’ve all had to deal with, whether we were doing paid work or volunteer. I think I know now why Gia blogs psuedonymously. She says everything we want to say, yet with a strange dedication to job keepin’. Congrats, Gia, on the win.

Comment karma

All of the comments on editor’s choice Miranda’s post were incredibly supportive and empathetic. I especially liked Erin’s of the Sisterhood of Sensible Moms comment. Both Erin’s and Ellen’s comments are always right on point and encouraging, and this one was no different. Congrats, Sisterhood, on the win.

Random drawing winner of the new WordPress blog theme

Lenore, please take a look at the themes on Elegant Themes and let me know which one you’d like to try. Congrats! Only four people entered the drawing, so that was a 25 percent chance for you to win. I’d go ahead and play the Mega Millions tonight since your chances of winning $540 million are about the same.

Superfecta challenge winners

Six weeks, 108 bloggers, four winners. The bloggers with the top four point totals in the first yeah write superfecta challenge are:

Stacey at Confessions of a Super Mommy [66.2]

Kristin at That Unique Weblog [65]

Gia at Mayor Gia [60.4]

Katie at Chicken Noodle Gravy [53.8]

The full spreadsheet with everyone’s point totals is here and available for download.

Thanks to all of the bloggers, readers and voters who helped make running this challenge so enjoyable. Don’t forget: there is always the opportunity to win a complete blog design makeover by earning one each of the editor’s choice, lurkers’ favorites, popular vote and comment karma in five consecutive weeks without a break in your linking up.

To the above winners, congrats congrats and please watch your email for details.

Win-win

The thumbnails are now sorted in the grid from most yellow star votes to the least. In the case of a tie, like if four blogs all got seven votes each, the thumbnails are additionally sorted by page views. Do not be discouraged if your blog has landed near the bottom of the grid; it is always a tight race. The fun lies in getting better exposure for your blog and in the spirit of competition as incentive to improve your writing and blogging skills. It’s a win-win for everybody involved.

Thanks again, everybody, for linking up, for reading, for voting. And for making yeah write the most welcoming spot on the Interwebs for writers who blog and bloggers who write.

Yeah write #51 opens Tuesday.
