Holy moly, this was a tough voting week. I started to break a few of my unwritten rules by assigning double winners to each category because I just could not decide, and some of you were asking for 300 votes instead of three, so I kinda considered letting everybody have five, but I eventually held on to what we got, and this is what we got, y’all: an increasingly tough competition with expanded audiences for our blogs and encouraging, supportive comments on our posts.

I know how frustrating it may seem to bring your A-game every week and still land one spot of out the top 5, 10, 15 or 20 every single week, but can’t you feel your writing getting better, your blog design making more sense, your participation on other people’s blogs growing? I certainly can—you’re doing great.

Virgins!

Six of you guys took the plunge, and I hope you had a pretty good time hanging out with us. Please come back next week, and tell all your friends. Well, maybe not all of them. Keep us a secret from your douchey jerky ones, if you don’t mind. Thanks.

Editor’s choice

Recovering Supermom struck a nerve with the part of me that hates negative stereotyping—even those stereotypes we use as terms of affection—with her post how we label ourselves and why we’ve got to stop. Although Recovering Supermom’s post focuses on Westernized women, it applies to any group still fighting for power or equal status. Turning gender, ethnic or mental health slurs into pet nicknames for ourselves can’t be good for anyone. Thanks, Supermom, for the reminder to expect better of ourselves. Congrats on the win.

Lurker’s favorite by my friend Flood

Flood chose yeah write virgin Katie at Chicken Noodle Gravy for the post Standing in my Own Way which spoke to Flood’s need to get the heck out of her own way. Flood and I seem to have a theme going this week, and I think I hear 1970s power anthems playing in the background of our choices. Congrats, Katie, on the first time linking, first time win.

Lurker’s favorite by my husband Q

Q: I choose Megan’s caramel apple cheesecake bars

E: Sweetie, you can’t keep choosing Megan’s recipes every week.

Q: Oh my god, those cheesecake bars look so good and her photos! So inviting.

E: Have you read any other posts yet besides Megan’s?

Q: No.

After reading all the posts, Q chose Ado at The Momalog’s post on best laid plans going awry. He always appreciates Ado’s clear style of writing, her sense of humor and her attention to detail. Congrats, Ado, on the win and thanks, Megan, for the recipe.

Popular vote winner

Sisterhood of the Sensible Moms pulled out a social media win with their helpful primer on when to STFU during group event planning. I don’t know how some of you parents do it: dealing with all those challenging personalities in group activities voluntarily. Salaried group activities give me the itchies. You guys are saints. Congrats on the win, Erin and Ellen. I’m so glad you’ve been having fun with us this past two weeks.

Comment karma

Sometimes, your fellow bloggers know stuff and sometimes they leave their knowledge in your comments just when you need it. Comment karma goes to Ado for her poetry-is-alive-and-well facts and footnotes on yeah write virgin David’s poetry-is-dead post. Clear, factual, encouraging. That’s a yeah write comment.

Win-Win

The thumbnails are sorted in the grid from most yellow star votes to the least. In the case of a tie, like if four blogs all got seven votes each, the thumbnails are additionally sorted by page views. Do not be discouraged if your blog has landed near the bottom of the grid; it is always a tight race. The fun lies in getting better exposure for your blog and in the spirit of competition as incentive to improve your writing and blogging skills. It’s a win-win for everybody involved.

Thanks again, everybody, for linking up, for reading, for voting. And for making yeah write the most welcoming spot on the Interwebs.

Yeah write #44 opens Tuesday.
