Welcome to the fiction and poetry challenge at yeah write

Sometimes, inspiration comes not from reading, but from some other avenue. When I went to see an exhibit of female surrealist painters a few years back, it felt like they were inviting me to tell my own stories. Each work was its own vignette, inviting you into a separate world of mystery and beauty. After seeing that exhibit, I wanted to create my own worlds, my own vignettes, with unusual characters in impossible situations.

There are many places from which to draw inspiration, see. If you’re having trouble with it this week, check out Arden’s “who’s on fourth” interview of angieinspired and see how others find their muses. Still lost? Why not use the optional prompt:

What aren’t you telling me?

This optional prompt is to serve as your inspiration for your fiction or poetry. Use the question, word for word, in your story or poem, or just answer the question. Secrets and lies by omission welcome here. Already have your own story thought up? No problem! The prompt is only there if you need it.
