It’s probably been a well-kept secret that I’ve never really liked the name “lovelinks” for this humble little community you and I have built together. I’m one of those people who makes every effort to say what I’m saying and be who I am without leaning toward the obvious. Yeah, lovelinks was a link up. Yes, we were spreading the love we had for reading and blogs and stuff. Love. Links. Get it? Got it, but it was becoming so much more.

Whether it’s admitted in polite company or not, once something is put to a vote, that something has found itself in a competition. It’s up for review, it’s being (gasp) judged by others on its merits or its popularity or both.

Understanding how blog layout can affect readers’ attitudes toward our writing has pushed some of us toward excellent new blog designs.

In less than a year, lovelinks moved from linking up our favorite blog posts of the week to bringing with us our best stuff every week. Looking ready, getting ready because, yeah, it’s time to write.

We’re gonna pick up where we left off last week. The only thing that’s changed is the name. And the tagline. I’ve never had bathtub gin, but it sounds like something serious writers drink when holed up in the woods finishing their third novellas. The neighbors bring it over when the porch light comes on, the creativity flows until the serious writer and Willie Lee pass out together at sunrise on the tailgate of Gunther’s truck.

The new name and explanation will help the newbies figure out what’s going on a little more quickly than before. It says what we are right there in the header, and a little extra clicking around should get the virgins started on their way. Yeah write virgins. Say that aloud. Haha. Even better.

My sweet Q copied everything over to yeahwrite.me from lovelinkin.com in a big ol’ puff of SQL magic, and I’m still in the process of changing “lovelinks” to “yeah write” on the FAQs and other pages. The name lovelinks will remain on all posts before this one, and we’re carrying over the numbering sequence. Your lovelinkin.com bookmarks and badges will still work, and once the coding is all done, you’ll be redirected to yeahwrite.me by even more magic. Lemme tell you this: being married to a mathematician and computer scientist is way more useful than having a doctor in the house. I figured that out on date #2.

You can follow yeah write on Twitter @yhwriteme. The hashtag for this week’s link up will be #yeahwrite41.

I made you guys new buttons and new winners’ badges. They’re over in the sidebar looking snazzy and bright.

Is this the very first time you’ve heard of either yeah write or lovelinks? Welcome! Nothing changes for you. Put your stuff in this form, and I’ll let you know each week when it’s time to link up.

Yeah write #41 opens Tuesday.
