It’s the weekend, so the moonshine grid is open

It is truly a sad day in the universe–the Purple One is gone. He meant so many things to different people, but to me, he was the epitome of two qualities: artistry and authenticity. I came to him later in life, as I’ve never been a fan of pop or funk music, but eventually I came to realize that Prince was much more complex than any label thrust on him. I grew to respect his work and talent, as well as his advocacy for marginalized artists. He was such a cultural force that I am at a loss.

How does the world go on without Prince?

I quite clearly remember watching this performance (I am one of those people who watches the Super Bowl for the snacks and the halftime show), and being so impressed by his showmanship and craft. As a musician myself, I know genius when I see it.

Purple Rain

While we all play “Nothing Compares 2 U” on repeat in mourning, I’ve got our weekend space set up for sharing. Share your odes to “Raspberry Beret,” your fanfic of Purple Rain, your 1,400 word tribute to Prince’s musical legacy, or an essay from two years ago about your very first Prince concert. The only post you can’t share here is that of the commercial or sponsored variety.

While you’re hanging out with us, please remember to visit other posts on the grid and take part in the community here! That’s what makes yeah write the place to be.

This is the badge you need

Over in the left sidebar is a list of yeah write badges containing the codes you need to satisfy the backlink requirement (also called a permalink) of the Inlinkz app. The badge for the moonshine looks like this:

Under the badge is a few lines of code. See that? Copy it exactly then paste it into the “text” or HTML view of your post editor. If you don’t copy it exactly, you will get an error message from the Inlinkz app. If you get confused or your browser is uncooperative, visit the Inlinkz step-by-step instructions here. If all else fails, contact Inlinkz customer support.
