It’s the weekend, so the moonshine grid is open

Sniff. The summer series is ending, which is the metaphorical end of summer here at yeah write. Do you know what I think? I think we should go out with a bang. Let’s don our loudest swim suits – the ones with baby whales printed all over the sides – and hop back into the pool for one last game of water volleyball. There’s strong drinks in the fridge, and with that plus all the weekend blog posts, we’ve got the makings of one heck of a send-off party.

It’s the end of the summer

As we wind down the 2014 summer series, and there are a few things you should know.

  • Starting this Sunday with yeah write #176, we’re retiring the supergrid and going back to business as usual. The gargleblaster will open on Monday and the challenge grid and speakeasy will open on Tuesday. All three grids will be unmoderated for the next couple of weeks because we’re not quite ready to completely let go of summer. Keep your eyes out for the Sunday kickoff post to get the full schedule. New to the grids? Check out How yeah write works.
  • The lounges will close their doors at the end of this week. We can’t express how wonderful it has been to read along and learn with all of you in all three of our critique lounges. We love your enthusiasm and your commitment to improving your writing and to helping your fellow yeah writers work on theirs. We’ll keep the lights on for a bit so you can make sure to capture the posts and comments that are most important to you, but posting will be disabled.
  • The coffeehouse will remain open! If you haven’t visited, please stop by and say hello. The coffeehouse is a place for our community to gather, get to know each other, exchange ideas and links, and chat. Read a good book lately? Have a link you want to share? Dealing with some writer’s block? Pull up a chair, grab a latte and start a conversation. We won’t be doing any critiquing in the coffeehouse, mind – we want to keep things there light and casual.

We’ve got some more exciting changes coming up for the fall, so make sure you’re subscribed to our weekly e-mail blast. That’s the best way to get all our news, fast! Just fill out that little form in the left-hand sidebar and call it good.

Grab a glass of moonshine & get in the pool

So even though it’s the end of summer, we still have to play by the rules: no sponsored or commercial posts, and…and…wait, nope, that’s the only rule. Bring your long posts, your haikus, your soliloquies, your monologues, your listicles, your rants, your posts from 2010, your photos of your trip to Yellowstone. Really, if you want to write it, we want to read it; that’s how the moonshine grid works.

This is the badge you are looking for

Over in the left sidebar is a list of yeah write badges containing the codes you need to satisfy the backlink requirement (also called a permalink) of the Inlinkz app. The badge for the moonshine looks like this:

moonshine

Under the badge is a few lines of code. Copy that exactly then paste it into the “text” or HTML view of your post editor. If you don’t copy it exactly, you will get an error message from the Inlinkz app. If you get confused or your browser is uncooperative, visit the Inlinkz step-by-step instructions here. If all else fails, contact Inlinkz customer support.
