Badges are ready which means today is the earliest your yeah write #93 weekly writing challenge grid posts can be dated.

Challenge v. Speakeasy

The grids open Tuesday, and it’s for your very best personal essays and traditional blog anecdotes that will shine at yeah write. Submit your fiction and poetry over at the speakeasy. If the speakeasy gets at least 10 submissions linked-up, the participants will be eligible to win a $25 Amazon gift card. Nothing to sneeze at! Find a yeah write virgin to sacrifice at the altar of the speakeasy, and Flood will donate custom photography for your blog. You’ve all seen the amazing creations Flood releases into the world, right?

Open submissions

The process of open submissions has permanently returned to yeah write. There is no longer a moderation queue, but all submission guidelines and FAQ still apply. We’re totally not trying to harsh your writing vibe. You can write want you want as long as it has a tightly written introduction, a clearly defined story line, and doesn’t try to sell us something or bore us to death. We are all getting older; why we should care it’s happening to you? Writing well about everyday life is the challenge of the challenge grid.

A few tips before you start writing

Last week, Erica sent you to the library and advised you to take a break from reading blogs of people who don’t read any books. And of course it’s the Golden Rule of becoming a better writer to read and read and read. That’s all well and good for the long-term, but what are we going to do right now? There’s no rush to get on the grid, remember. It’s unlimited, and no one gets a special reward for being first on the grid.

So, let me remind everyone the most perfect attitude towards writing ever: Less is More. You’ve heard that before. I know you have. Get your best stuff out here: Write it, read it, cut the first line or two, cut something from the middle, cut something from the end. Breathe in. Breathe out. Read it again. Figure out what must stay, and then cut everything that can go.

And please, check for spelling and its/it’s and there/their/they’re sort of silliness.

With the grids being open once again, we gotta say it again: every week may not be your week. Bring us your best stuff when you know it’s gonna be the best on the grid.

Read well, write well, rewrite often. Yeah write #93 weekly writing challenge grid opens Tuesday…
