Open submissions for yeah write #84 and yeah write #85

Your yeah write editors are taking a couple of weeks off and are opening the grid to your best stuff unsupervised. If you’ve been around longer than two weeks, you know the drill: no more than 1,000 words, posts dated no earlier than today, beginning, middle, end with a central conflict. That’ll never change. The difference for the next two weeks is you get to use your own judgment. You won’t get a Flood love letter, you’re on your own for rewrites. Commercial posts and ones using our writing grid for self-promotion will be removed. The grid will be limited to 50 entries.

Current on your NaBloPoMo posts?

Those hanging out with us for NaBloPoMo who had not missed a day as of this post publication will be invited to submit to the grid before it officially opens on Tuesday. Just my way of saying thanks and that reward should kick off the open  submissions with bloggers who are blogging this week of American Thanksgiving no matter what. Welcome all you rowmies and columnites! Grab your badge and check your email some time today for your invitation code.

Popular voting

The popular vote will return along with open submissions. No spreadsheet voting, no tracking, although I’m hoping voters will mentally follow the spreadsheet as they read and click the yellow stars. Let’s not disappear our goal of becoming more critical readers.

Badges

The backlink will still be required, and I made you cool new badges for installing it onto your blog. Paste the code into the HTML window of your post then hit publish or save from the HTML view. That should solve the problems some of you have had with getting it to work.

Optional photo prompt

In case you need a little inspiration, here’s a photo prompt for you:

Is this your first time here?

Welcome! No worries if you have no idea what any of the above paragraphs are talking about. You’ll need to grab a badge for your post before attempting to link it to the grid which will open Tuesday. All you’re doing now is writing your heart out and clicking around to learn more about our humble little community. Over in the sidebar under “quick links” is a great place to start. Follow us on Twitter and tweet any questions you may have.
