It’s the final week of our family-free month here at the yeah write weekly writing challenge, so it’s only fitting I wrap it up with a post about my children. Next week, we’ll be off to greater adventures.

My kids are trying to kill me

I’ve never before felt as separated from my original reasons for wanting children as I have for the past few weeks. Not one of my kids, age 17, 11 or 3, is listening to me for any reason unless I’m yelling at somebody, and I’m not even a yeller. I usually deal with the entire fiasco by shutting my bedroom door, and pouring a double cocktail while watching a movie or anything sports-related. Then somewhere in there, I decided this is my house and I’m not gonna gain another bed potato pound by refusing to get out and move around. So this new mommy is a shock to their systems as we are in a transitory period right now—reasserting who’s boss and it for sure isn’t anyone around here shorter than 60-in. tall.

New to the yeah write weekly writing challenge?

Welcome! Some things around here are self-explanatory, some are not so splanatory, but be of good cheer and don’t get frustrated. Feel your way around if you’re not a RTFM kinda person. If reading the instruction manual from cover to cover is more your style, check out the helpful links below. Yesterday’s post contains optional writing prompts. If you get stuck, feel free to email Flood G or email Erica M and we’ll get you turned in the right direction. If the competitive aspect isn’t for you, you will love the come-and-go feel to the speakeasy. Either one will help you find your blogging tribe, and we’ll be glad to have you.

Back on the challenge grid this week?

Hey, welcome back!  If it’s been a while, we’ve missed you. If it’s been a long while, you and the virgins can share textbooks. Submissions are moderated and limited to a hard count of 1,000 words. Voting is no longer accepted from the world wide web; the editors are scoring each entry as a series of closed votes. No family themes will be allowed this week, but you are welcome to place your kids for adoption in my comments. I’ve already gotten a few nibbles on mine from Craigslist.

Comment karma

Comment karma has successfully returned from its hiatus. For those who needed an incentive to visit each blog on the grid after voting was no longer open, comment karma is a wonderful reminder of how we all need support and love and thoughtful comments. Visit and comment on every blog on the challenge grid and the comment karma badge will be yours.
